This was our home-base for our south Italy trip. The views are spectacular, each room has a balcony overlooking Sorrento's bay and this really makes the morning wake up a significant and great part of the trip.
The manager is a lovely man, very nice and helpful. The restaurants he recommended were excellent and it was always nice to get back after a day trip to a smiling face on the reception. Aside from the manager, I have nothing but good words to all of the hotel's staff which were as kind as it gets.
So why only 3-star? The room itself was a bit small and the shower was poorly designed and badly lightened. Breakfast was very very basic- I'm not sure how it is in other 3-star hotel but the 4-star hotel in Rome was a huge step up when it comes to the first meal of the day.
The main reason we were a bit disappointed was that the hotel is in the middle of nothing- it's obviously no place for someone without a car, (although we had car). The problem is you have to drive to everywhere- 20 minutes to Sorrento is not a great deal but I would much rather walk back to the hotel after an Italian dinner and Italian wine.
If I were back to Sorrento, I would try and take a hotel in the town or close to it, one that offers a shuttle service to and back from the city center. The prices for a room without a sea view are about the same as the prices for a sea view room in Mega Mare, and seeing that you don't sped so much time in the room- the location is more important to me then the room view.
