I absolutely love this restaurant. As an American living in the area I sometimes tire of the same-old offerings everywhere. My Italian husband however, loves the same-old offerings everywhere. This restaurant is the perfect compromise. The dishes are traditional but with the slightest twist that keeps things interesting. I definitely recommend ordering the anti-pasta tasting. It is about €16 per person and 3-4 small dishes come out, again, all very traditional but still inspired. The owner could not be more friendly and helpful. He is so enthusiastic and truly passionate about the food and wine that he offers.
One other nice thing, which is somewhat rare at restaurants in Italy, is the HUGE selection of wines by the glass. The owner thinks about what you are each having and he either brings a bottle that he recommends or he will say, "you have this, you have this..." and bring everyone different wines by the glass.
One thing I am not used to as an American, but am getting used to here, is to completely trust the waitstaff and the owner. People do not work just for tips here so they are never trying to jack up the price of your bill. If you ask for a recommendation, or simply put your meal in the hands of the owner here, he will offer you what he is most excited about for the night. The bill will always be reasonable. It is such fun to visit this restaurant and I highly recommend it to any and all in the area or just passing through.
