“Good place for some nights”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013 via mobile

I was there for some nights while I was in Vesere for business.
The hotel is quite far from the city center, you have to use your car to reach it, maybe it's more or less 10 minutes.
The hotel has a great parking area and in summer you can use the swimming pool.
Personnel at the reception is very kind and helpful.
You can use the gym and there is a free internet in all the rooms.

Rooms are quite big and very clean as the bathrooms.

This hotel can be a good place if you have to spend some nights in Varese.

The hotel is in Varese, in a unattractive, residential area. This is the only thing you need to know, and you can see it on maps before booking your hotel. Decide based on this, because the rest will not disappoint you.
This is one of the few 4-stars hotel I`ve been to, which delivers a 4-star service, and at a 3-star price. The hotel is quite new. The rooms are not super-large but ok for most purpose. We were there 2 nights with our kid. There was a misunderstanding at the beginning because of bed for the kid and similar, but the staff was extremely polite, professional and efficient in solving it. I think it`s hard to find such professionality in the hotel businnes in Italy (I`m Italian).
You get also free access to swimming pool, sauna and fitness room. We didn`t try those but looked quite new and well-maintained.
If you`re stopping in the area by car, this is probably the best value you can get. A rather tedious drive through towns brings you also to Como in about 40 minutes. So if you`re really on a budget, but don`t want to skip on comfort, you can also stay there.
Breakfast quality was very good, but not so much choice for the continental breakfast lovers. No scrambled eggs of wurstchen. Sorry guys, but when you are in Rome, do as the Romans.

We had booked the hotel at booking.com and stayed at the hotel for two nights. We were disappointed to find that the hotel was located in a housing area with no shops and restaurants within walking distance. You actually need a car to get around, but was in itself not a problem for us since we were travelling with a car. We booked in a hurry so our fault for not researching it properly. On the other hand, the hotel was modern, quiet and reasonable priced. We had booked a family room and got two good-sized double rooms with a door between the rooms. The a/c rooms and public areas were clean, free wifi and parking. We also had a fridge in both rooms.

We were not impressed about the breakfast, but had a selection of fruit, yoghurts, cereals, bread, cheese and ham. The staff was helpful, both English and German speaking, but a bit distant.

The negative part is that Varese itself can be qualified as an "no- worth- seeing" destination. We missed some destination touristinformation. We didn`t find anything in the hotel.
After travelling around in the Dolomites, Venice and Tuscany, Varese lacks attractions and scenery. Anyway; The weather was great, and we spend the two days at the pool side and had a comfortable stay. It was also a bonus that it was allowed to bring our own drink and food.

A brief stopover between the Med & Germany. Lousy food. Small room. Poor a/c. Pool OK. Breakfast was a disaster, we followed a coach party who consumed all the food and the staff just disappeared leaving empty vessels and bread baskets. For 80euros we could have done better.

We stayed here only for one night whilst travelling to Tuscany. Rooms are excellent, air conditioned, clean amenities and free wifi. Swimming pool is nice, the food in the restaurant is good. All in all a very good stay for us. The hotel is quite a bit from the Varese city centre, but when coming by car or bike this shouldn't be a problem.

We had a family room or apartment with fridge and rings. The room was OK, but extra pillows were not available on the first night as housekeeping was closed. The room needed some maintenance - a curtain needed refixing to the rail, the shower drain was blocked (this was fixed after we asked), and the toilet seat was loose! This was mid May but air conditioning was not turned on as it was too early in the season, despite it being hot outside. The pool was not available, as it was still covered for the winter period. Both air conditioning and pool are advertised on the web site, with no indication of them being seasonal. Breakfast was average, with cold coffee every day. We always had to track someone down and ask for hot coffee. This may be OK for certain hotels, but this is advertised as four stars. The staff are friendly and will help where they can.

We were touring Northern Italy as Tourists without a Motor Vehicle. All our transport needs for our holiday were met by Public Transport which, we found, was a very convienent way to travel. This was our last stop in our 6 week holiday. Our Departing Airport was Melpensa - Milan. After viewing the Web site of the Hotel, we understood the Hotel to be about 3 Kilometres from the Varese City Centre and that the Hotel had shuttle facilities to the Airport and booked accommodation for 6 nights on that basis.

Unfortunately our understanding was incorrect, the Hotel may be 3 kilometres from the city centre but only as the crow flies (in a direct line). The Hotel is accessed from the city centre by boarding a line C bus and travelling east until about the 4th last stop (football training facility stop). Bus ticket costs 1.2 euro one way. The only visable Hotel Signage (Signage on top of the Hotel is visable here) is from the aforementioned bus stop. If you miss the stop you will not see any Hotel signage.

The Hotel does not operate a shuttle service to the Melpensa Airport but will offer to book transport for guests to the Airport. Hire Car cost approx 55 euro and a Taxi is said to cost more.

WiFi facilities are not available in rooms. WiFi is only available in the reception and dining areas of the Hotel.

The Hotel seems to be mainly used by travelling business people. As such, there is minimal tourism material available at the Hotel to advise guests about the structure of public transport, the layout of the city i.e. no city maps, details of local areas of interest and/or details of how to access them.

Breakfast is continental in style and if you were early for Breakfast, there was a satisfactory selection of items available. However, if you missed the initial rush, the restocking of the breakfast selection was not attended to in early course and your choices were minimised.

Nightly dining was not certain and there were at least 2 nights during our stay where night meals were not available. On these occassions Guests had to make their own arrangements. When nightly meals were available, quality was basic Hotel quality at best.

Hotel reception staff were friendly and tried to assist Guests. English language is not a strong point.

Rooms although relatively small, contained basic furnishings and they are cleaned daily. Weather was such that using the swimming pool was not appropriate.

Overall, it is considered that the Hotel aims to provide services to travelling business people who have their own Motor Vehicles and who do not wish to stay in a city centre environment. On this basis, it is considered that the Hotel performance is satisfactory. However, if you are a tourist who is using Public Transport, it is suggested that you consider other options.

Room Tip: All rooms with a double bed are said to be on one side of the Hotel
