We stayed in Tropea for 7 weeks in May and June. We rented the Meyer Apartment (which was great) in the historical centre just above a fanastic local restuarant Osteria Le Volpi e L'Uva (via Garibaldi 11) great honest food and Gaetano is a wonderful, friendly host. During our stay we decided to learn some Italian and did a 7 day stint at Studio Italiano in Tropea. Which we would recommend to anyone. Nicola, the Director of the school could not have been more helpful and supportive of us. He gave us a guided tour of Tropea and was able to help us with anything we asked of him over the whole time we were in Tropea. Antonella our Italian language teacher was extremely patient and kind, given we had no understanding of the Italian language. Being Australian we speak nothing but English, but after our lessons we certainly felt more confident. While in Tropea we attended two fantastic cooking classes organized by Nicola. The classes were everything we imagined - we drove up to the hills of Tropea, helped prepare the food, learnt to make and cook local pasta with Mariana, wandered Francos magnificent garden and enjoyed wonderful food at an 'Italian table', who could ask for more.
Tropea is a vibrant, fun and very friendly town to visit and after 7 weeks it felt like a home that we are sad to leave.
