Follow your nose (or your ipad, as we did) to find Al Pinturicchio, a fantastic restaurant in the old town of Tropea, with tables set up in the laneway, complete with pictures and pot plants on the walls, creating a delightful atmosphere of being inside but outside. There is also inside seating but it is not as picturesque!
The greeting was a little surly so we wondered what we were going to encounter but that seemed to be only the attitude of the 'bus-boy', not the waiter or the owner, who were pleasant and helpful. The menu was happily explained both to us (in italian) and by the owner in English to our neighbouring diners, a group of Americans who could not speak Italian.
We shared the antipasti (land) and it was delicious, although heavy on the fried food. Excellent parmigiana and frittata! Our girls ate pizza and it was one of the best margheritas we have had in 6 weeks. My involtini were tasty and my husband's baked fish got the thumbs up. Recommended! We will no doubt go back.
