“Wonderful Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

I have just returned from my holiday in Torbole,Lake Garda and stayed at the Piccolo Mondo.I can not praise this hotel enough,Let me start with the staff.Veronica on reception was always there with a smile and nothing was to much trouble, she arranged for 70 balloons to be put in my friend's room because it was her birthday and she arranged or a cake,Marco was the barman and made a mean cocktail, Patrizio and Alexei were the comedians of the hotel but what lovely guys.Sergio and his wife owned the hotel and Sergio was a mind of information. The food was absolutely delicious and there was plenty of it.I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and i will certainly be returning

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

We stayed at the Piccolo Mondo half-board for 9 nights in mid-April, 2013. We had two adjacent rooms on the first floor. Due to flight delay we were very late arriving (after midnight) but found the owner waiting up for us, with our keys and a smile. Both rooms were large, one with king-sized bed and one with two ample twin beds. One had a shower, the other a bath with shower over. The rooms were spotless and non-smoking, though in one room the previous tenant or his/her guests had been smoking and it took a couple of days for the smell to dissipate. The hotel sits in modest but attractive grounds. As we were pre-season, the outdoor pool was drained, but our son got a great deal of use out of the indoor pool, which includes a whirlpool 'end'. Mostly we had this facility to ourselves. He also made regular use of the gym, which was well equipped, with each machine explaining how to use it and what muscles it exercised. We also made use at the end of our trip of the 'spa' -- treating ourselves to a sauna and steam room. We never found anyone else down there, but then when we arrived there were only about five sets of people staying. We found the breakfast excellent though twice items we wanted had run out (once yoghurt, once the granola). We also found the restaurant excellent, with good, very fresh, well-prepared local dishes; half-board offered three choices in each category and each meal four courses. The head-waiter, Patrizio, was very knowledgeable about local wines and made suggestions, all of which we found excellent accompaniments to the food. We liked the portion sizes -- just right to get through four courses without overeating, and if one was really hungry there was also a salad buffet to top up. The hotel was convenient for walks to the beach, into the main part of Torbole and to the bus-stops for trips to Rovereto, Riva and along the lake going south. The hotel also offered the use of bicycles, which we took advantage of to cycle to Arco and back. When we left, we had to vacate the room 8 hours before we were collected to go to the airport, but the staff provided us a place to leave our luggage and were happy for us to make use of their public rooms. We had several very nice chats with the staff and owners, who were friendly, welcoming and treated us -- as we felt -- more like house-guests than like customers. The only reasons I haven't marked it excellent were: (1) the heating in the rooms was difficult to control and my son ended up by having to sleep with the window open to keep the room from being uncomfortably warm; (2) that the breakfast items were not replenished if they ran out during breakfast; (3) the plumbing, though it worked all right, was old-fashioned and a little cranky in operation; (4) the fact that a non-smoking room smelled of tobacco smoke. But I certainly would go back again and I certainly would recommend it, particularly for families or groups of friends. (Towards the end of our stay there was a large party who stayed at least 3 days -- they seemed to constitute a family reunion of three or four generations, so the hotel seems quite capable of catering for such parties.)

Room Tip: In season, rooms at the front might be a bit noisy. Ours (back of hotel on first floor, 115 and 116...

where to start...staff are lovely and very welcoming, the problem i had with this hotel was that it was advertised as 4 stars and let me tell you this was not four stars.if we were talking 25 -30 years ago perhaps it would be 4 stars, but the place feels very dated and the room was terrible. im not gonna get graphic, but i had to use a public toilet for number 2's as the bathroom wasn't big enough to wipe your own [--]. i swear that is no word of a lie. also i visited in summer when it was absolutely boiling and the AC didn't work which ruined my sleep and so my experience( i did report this and they said that no one was avaliable for the first few days, i reported it again and it was pretty much ignored. i understand the whole family run hotel vibe is appealing, but thats no excuse to overlook the dated and sometimes crampt facilities. also i heard it has a great restaurant but that shouldn't make it 4 stars and i was sleeping in there !!!
in a nutshell i wouldn't go again...

I stayed in this hotel in October 2012. first time in Italy what a lovely country. The first time to stay in a family ran hotel. Usually stay in named hotel; but after staying in a family hotel I would go back again. Everybody was so helpful; everyone took great pride in they work and could not do enough for you. i could not recommend this hotel eough. If you want to stay in a friendly family run hotel try this hotel. The food was really good; great nights sleep just perfect.

Had a wonderful stay at the Piccolo , from the cleaners to the owners all the staff are wonderful. Rooms spotless, food was good and the attention to the guests is from a bygone age. We loved it. Newmarket Holidays from Inverness , airline was OK no problems (and I was worried after reading write ups) Transfers fine, on our return journey we had to leave our hotel earlier than expected as road was closed due to marathon and we had expected to spend a long wait at airport, our rep thought of taking us to a shopping centre and we spend a couple of hours looking at lovely shops and having coffee etc. this was a nice surprise as Verona airport is not the largest , well done Newmarket rep. A lovely autumn break. Thanks you to the Cheisa family. S Townsley

Room Tip: Ours was a room with walk in shower as I am disabled and it was near to the reception with a slope t...

We stayed at this Hotel for 7 days, and enjoyed every second of our stay .
The food was the best we have in any hotel we have stayed in.
The rooms were spotless, with views of the mountains which surround this hotel.
The staff were the best we have seen , always ready to help you out and make your stay at this hotel a experience of a life time.
The Owners of the hotel were always on call and nothing was too much for them,to make your stay, a memory which will last forever.

A hotel and mangement team led by the owner who offer an old fashioned service that you don't often see nowadays.
The welcome at reception was very warm and the staff were very friendly, the facilities of the hotel were a little lacking and could have been enhanced with an area outdoors to enjoy a drink in the evening.
The entertainment was poor and glad to say it only happened twice in a 9 day stay, the food was very good and good qulity wine was avilable t reasonable prices.
Could have done with some tea/coffee making facilities in the room but overall impressed and would recommend
