I stayed at this Bed and Breakfast over a year ago and I still can't believe I haven't taken the time to recommend it. The Fodors review is a good guideline, as staying here is an antique lovers dream. The entire house has exposed wooden beams. The b and b's "experience" starts with a climb up a very old stone stair case, pictured on their website: http://www.todi.net/lorenzo/
It has a lovely quiet sitting room with plush furniture, old photos and beautiful rugs. Although there are rooms ensuite, I opted for a shared bathroom. Turned out there was no one else there that night- November a great time to go!- and I had the place to myself. The bathroom was interesting as it had no shower door, but rather a stepped-up area where you lay a mat down- upon first glance I feared there would be water everywhere but that certainly wasn't the case- weird to note, but I'd just never seen anything like it!
Breakfast was served in a beautiful quiet room that had a loft and soft sunlight streamed through the window here.
There is much care taken here of the bed and breakfast by the owner, Marzia, and the next morning when I missed the bus to the train station, she rushed to gather her car and drove me to it! Without that help, I would've not made any other train connections that day. Todi is a lovely village, and it remains to be one of my favorite places. The restaurant I had dinner at was short of a two minute walk from here- http://frommers.com/destinations/todi/D49184.html
They grill the meat and fish right over an open fireplace in the dining room. I had as a first course an Umbrian specialty of their own type of Carbonara- alla boscaiola- with asparagus and it was the best pasta I've had in Italy (well, equivalent to Bologna). That meal coupled with a moonlight stroll in the village was unforgettable.
Overall Todi is a magical place if you enjoy medieval villages, beautiful views, incredible food- and the San Lorenzo Tre is the place to stay!
