Hotel is very large and has the bonus of a lovely relaxing pool area. The beach and shops are a short walk away.
Room was a good size with mini bar/fridge, hairdryer, small balcony, air con and black out blinds. The decor and fittings are dated, but perfectly functional and in their day would have been quality fittings. Breakfast choice however was the most limited we have ever had and poor in our opinion. The staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. There is also free use of a computer if you wish.
If you’re happy with the essentials, in a good location for exploring the area, the hotel is good. Plenty of good restaurants nearby and the bus to Pisa and beyond is closeby.

A hotel that was probably the splendor of the 50's, 60's and 70's hasn't changed much in that many years. Large high ceilinged rooms with 50 year old bathrooms, broken tile and ripped linoleum in the halls, off-mark products fora breakfast buffet with very limited choices do not warrant the room cost of a 4 star resort. A 12inch TV in the room that only received 5 channels and pillows 1 inch thick. Again , no longer up to 4 star quality.

On the whole we think the hotel provided good value for money. The room was ok, although we did get a lot of mosquito bites ( no air con). The pool was nice, as the hotel was only a quarter full. The breakfast was ok, but could be improved (poor juice, coffee, croissants), and exactly the same choice every day. The hotel staff were helpful.

We were a bit disappointed with Tirrenia. Not a lot of restaurants, and expensive. The restaurants need to provide more tourist menus at set prices. We only managed to find one, 15 euros for 2 courses (whereas in Florence and Pisa you can get set menu from 10/12 euros). We had trouble finding a supermarket, but eventually found just one.
You have to take bus to Pisa (30-35mins, fare 2.30 euros each way) in order to see other places (Florence, Lucca, Viarregio, etc).
You cannot take a bus along the coast direct to Viarregio etc, you can only go to Pisa one way, or Livorno the other.
