“"A Gem in the Heart of Historic Spoleto"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

Hotel Palazzo Leti is a beautiful small family run hotel in a peaceful setting in the historical centre of Spoleto. The delightful owners, Laura and Gianpaolo, spent years renovating the Palazzo to its former glory and it shows. My husband and I stayed two nights and would not hesitate to return. The views from the garden terrace where we ate breakfast and sipped afternoon cocktails was breathtaking. We stayed in a superior room which also had a wonderful view of the countryside. The Palazzo Leti is a short walk from the major sites of Spoleto and many good restaurants and local bars. Although the parking may seem intimidating to those used to more space Gianpaolo was always available to lend a hand. We highly recommend both the Hotel Palazzo Leti and Spoleto.

We are sitting here in the second destination of our first trip to Italy and feel it is time to comment upon the very pleasant experiences of our first. Hotel Palazzo Leti is a great introduction to Italy: the warm welcome of the owners, the staggering amount of history at every turn, the gorgeous simple yet delicious food, the sometimes breathtakingly narrow streets (but hey, they ain't made for cars!), and the laid-back attitude of the locals was the perfect way to experience our first few days. And seriously, the owners really did go out of their way to help us out when we got a bit lost, booked tables for us, and just generally were very kind. Our room was large with a nice bathroom and quiet at night. Wifi was free and accesible in our room which these days is something we take for granted. Spoleto itself was lovely for at least a couple of nights, the bridge was quite something to see. Thank you for a brilliant stay.

It's hard to go wrong when one is in a beautiful setting like Spoleto, and especially in a hotel that has a garden and terrace overlooking the valley.
Palazzo Leti is spotlessly clean and comfortable. We felt the service was quite formal, perhaps because of our difficulty in communicating, since we don't speak much Italian.
I booked a standard room, so I was pretty sure we would not have a view, but was a bit surprised that the elevator took us Down two floors to our room, which was quite dark, but pleasant, and overlooking a narrow alley/ street.

We did make use of the terrace, though, in the evening and late afternoon, and enjoyed that very much.

Do some research on restaurants before you go. At one of the restaurants that Paolo sent us to we were the only patrons, and though the young waiter was very helpful, there was definitely a lack of atmosphere, and my pork was almost entirely inedible, due to being medium rare and tough.
Others have mentioned the parking, be prepared that it is a little difficult, but the owners will help you out.
I am giving 4 stars, because I felt the price of our room was a little high, considering it is more or less in the basement, although above ground.

What a wonderful gem. Tucked away on a quiet street, but walking distance to everything. We walked through the doors onto a beautiful terraced garden, overlooking the mountain, valley, ancient aqueduct and church. The hotel is equally as lovely. Meticulously maintained, with attention to details and craftsmanship. Our room was a good size, with a large antique mirror and stunning bedding and drapes. The pillows are a good quality feather pillow that cradles your tired head after a day of sightseeing. The towels are plush and soft. The owners, a husband and wife team are helpful and delightful........you feel as if they have welcomed you into their home. Breakfast has a nice selection of baked goods, meats, cheeses, fresh fruit and yogurt. The flakey pastry I enjoyed was great. They also have parking available at the hotel.

Patrzia, a tour and group specialist works with the hotel to provide the ultimate Umbrian experience to complete the ideal vacation.

Room Tip: -Enjoy a bottle of Sangrentino wine from Montefalco on their terrace. -Arrange some adventures wit...

My husband and I, and another couple of close friends, were fortunate to stay at the Palazzo Leti for 6 days recently. What a wonderful time we had. It was a great location to use as a base to explore Umbria and the husband and wife owners were a very big help in guiding us to interesting locations and restaurants. The service and hospitality was 5 star as were the clean and nicely decorated rooms, (we were in 303 and our friends were in 403). Most definitely a place to come back to in the future.

we would certainly book again in the Palazzo, we felt home. the owners are nice and helpful.

2 nights is the average we think for a stay in Spoleto.

try always to have a room in 3 th floor and if breakfast is possible on the terrace you will be enchanted

Room Tip: take exit Spoleto Sud= very important and do not neglect the traffic lights as I did= they are very...

This is one of the most memorable stops on our travels through Italy. We were traveling through the region and stopped in Spoleto for the evening. Found beautiful rooms, grounds, and wonderful host. It was like stepping back in time. We would recommend without hesitation. The service was elegant. We had left a garment in the closet and they were kind enough to send to our last destination. Most grateful

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The beautiful residence of the noble Leti family is located in the historic center of Spoleto. According to various sources, it seems that this was the first residence of the Leti family who arrived in Spoleto in 1500 but the family name became extinct at the beginning of the XIX century. due to a lack of male heirs. The Residence was built shortly after the medieval city walls were constructed (1292) using, in part, a pre existent Roman structure which you can still see walking along Via delle Felici. Recent restoration has revealed an important architectural, environmental and historic heritage not to mention a garden that has been restored in classic "Italian garden" style. From the garden one can admire the beautiful view of Monteluco and some of Spoleto's most important monuments including the Rocca Albornoziana, and St. Peter's Church. Rooms: The Historical Residence consists of 12 rooms, all of which are decorated with warm lightly coloured fabrics and organza. Each room, with its unique architecture, colour and decor is reminiscent of a noble room of the past. All rooms have a view of the sacred mountain of the Spoleto valley "Monteluco", which evokes the peace and the harmony of the hermits that once lived there. Facility: Soundproof, safe, mini bar, air conditioning, TV sat, internet access free. ... more   less
