“A little hard to find, but worth the search”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

Found on TripAdvisor, a little harder to find physically--and all uphill--but well worth the search. From sumptuous, seasonal Umbrian foods, to a respectable wine list (as well as a selection of beers, which we did not try), to decadent chocolate desserts, this "Temple of Flavor" earns its name.

We were the only "foreigners" in the restaurant. Service by the young staff was a bit sluggish, but the enthusiastic chef came out to the dining room to introduce proudly his creations. Including an asparagus flan with saffron sauce, speck, pecorino, and patatine; and a dessert of fruit dipped in dark rum, then dipped in chocolate!

We are glad we found this place on TripAdvisor, relieved to have finally found it about a block off of the Piazza del Mercato, and sure to go again if we find ourselves in Spoleto.

“well worth the walk up hill!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013 via mobile

Ordered the piatto umbrio...fabulous soups and local meats with melted pecorino cheese! Then split the pasta with wine and pigeon sauce ;)
Lovely small restaurant, very friendly, attentive chef. Had to wait quite a while for the vino, otherwise great service. Dessert...fresh fruit with melted dark chocolate for dipping, with rum! Amazing!

“I'd go back to Spoleto for this restaurant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

We were recommended by our B&b host to have dinner at this amazing restaurant in central Spoleto. Of course we didn't know the restaurant would be this famous on tripadvisor as well, but from our dining experience there, we don't think it's super touristy restaurant (which is a great news for travelers who want local experience).

By reading so many great reviews about this restaurant, you should have made up your mind going there. Please allow me to remind you that they offer complimentary small dishes between courses so make sure you order less than usual. We had two courses each and by the end of my second course, I was already too stuffed by the small dishes and had to give up on my desert.

Everything was super delicious there. They put so much truffles on my risotto that I wonder if they mistook truffles for sprinkle cheese. That's how much I get on my plate.

One last advice, we went there on a weekday night and the restaurant is fully booked. Make sure you make appointment in advance!

“Fantastic food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

We were so impressed with the food that we went back a second time. Could not believe that we could eat such fabulous food for such a reasonable price. Staff professional and polite. Worth coming to Spoleto just to eat here.

“great food but pretentious setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

Let me start with the food. It is really good. High quality, good ingredients. carefully prepared. Good wines. Thus, you can't go wrong with the food and the place deserves its high ranking. But....there is a problem with the atmosphere, the service, the pretentiousness of it all. On the one hand, the attitude is one of a fancy New York City restaurant, but it does not come with the servive. The staff never really makes you feel welcome, they look inattentive, forgot your order, forgot what wine you had, while on the other hand make a big fuzz with the candles and the waiters bringing the food. But all seems a bit overdone without much love or attention.
On the other hand, you really eat well here, so it's worth your while in Spoleto for a one time experience. Price is fair for what you get.
