“Italian Beach Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

The only 4* Hotel in Sottomarina, a busy location close to the typical sand beaches and a lot of restaurant facilities in the close sourrounding. Rooms are nice, clean and well equipped as usual under the flag Best Western. Service is very freindly and helpful. This area is more for the local people. In summertimes it is a very active area, much for fun, Italian and young people. The out-door swimming pool is very relaxing, which can be use, if you would not like to waalk the 50 m to teh beach.
In my opinion a true advantage is the proximity of the beautiful Chioggia, called "little Venice", with its small Pallazzi along the Corso del Populo and the fantastic local Fish restaurants. (Chioggia itsself is one of the biggest fish harbours of Italy).
Another advantage is that you can reach Venice within 50 minutes either by car (via SS 309) or by ships, either directly or via the public transportation service. The latter seems to be a very nice trip starting with a vaporetto from the harbour of Chioggia at the end of the Corso del populo to Palestrina, changing to a bus, which has to cross the middle entrance of the lagune of Venice on a ferry boat and reaches the Lido, where you have to change the boat to come to the St. Marcus Square.
This area adn the sourrounding I like very much and used it as stop on our way into the Toscany.

Room Tip: Rooms in hiogher floors have a fantastic view over the Mediterrenean Sea

Very nice and well placed hotel. Rooms are very clean, service is excellent. Am planning on staying there again on my next trip to Italy. Not a long drive to Venice, but bring a GPS if you are familiar with the area. Also, a lovely young lady, Elenore De Bei, who works the reception desk, was very helpful on directions to eating establishments, and things to see. Was there in winter time, so not a big crowd and very relaxing.

Stopped for two nights during a drive though italy. Nice hotel and very relaxing. amazed to be the only people by the pool on a 27 degree sunny day. Pool was not heated, but clean and very refreshing. Typical italian breakfast, but no restaurant, though some good ones very close by. Beaches are typical for italy, ie you need to pay to use, there are some free access, but hidden and only allowed if you go right to the waters edge. Only thing I never found in our two nights stay was a supermarket, and soft drinks were not cheap in the hotel. 4 euros for a coke, and you had to sign everything to the room. But overall, very relaxing.

We have just got back from staying at the Hotel Bristol. The staff were great: really friendly and helpful. They also helped us to get around as we weren't clear what to visit and how to get there. The breakfast is good too although the it was similar to most hotels in Italy it was well done and they will make you a proper coffee if you as. We had a room with a balcony and it was great to look out even if it was over a busy interesection and the beach. The room wasa bit on the small side but plenty big enough for a couple of days.
The pool was lovely if a little bit cold. They have a 'pool doctor' man (that is what his T-shirt said) who certainly does a good job. My wife and I spent a day lounging by the pool and swimming. They have loungers and big couches in the shade which were just what we needed.
There is access to a beach but, in common with many Italian beaches, this was a vast expanse of sand covered in cheap cafes, rows of beach huts and rows of loungers. We went once and decided it wasn't for us. None of this is the fault of the hotel: it is just the way the Italians treat their beaches.
