“A fairy tale place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

A must see in Sestri and in the entire Riviera del Levante! Go there by sunset - a great moment to take pictures. The best thing is to climb up the Villa Capuccini that offers the best panoramas of the entire area and if you go high enough, you can even see the two bays(Baia del silenzio and Baia delle Favole) at once! another tip would be to climb to Punta Manara (see elsewhere on TripAdvisor), during this trek you 'll have even more spectacular views.

“A real Fishers' bay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

Incredible clear and shallow water, in a closed little bay, surrounded by a strip of sand and former fishers' houses right on the beach.

Further out, but well protected from the outside currents, is a small underwater pool ideal for snorkeling with little kids. If you want more you can swim outside the barrier for bigger fishes, octopus, etc.

One advice: wonderful in may, June, September, avoid hot months as the beach is very small and very crowded. Lots of restaurants, bars, gelateria right on the beach.

You can rent out your lounge chair and amenities on the spot for a very low price.

“A little bit of heaven”

Picture the bay of Silence and you are there. Only small boats with the reflection of multicolored houses overlooking the beach.

“If it was good enough for Byron”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

We came to Sestri Levante from Chiavari (about 10 minutes away by train) merely because we'd never been. Well, I'm so glad we did. We discovered a lovely little seaside town with beautiful buildings both along the seafront and in the small town centre. The highlight, for me anyway, was this beautiful bay (Baia del Silenzio) which you reach by just walking up a little side road from the main street along the seafront. The feeling of tranquility is immediate. Well it was in April, I can't guarantee the same in high season. We had our Prosecco sitting outside the Cutter Cucca bar and just taking in the magical atmosphere. I imagine it must be so romantic in the evening with all the lights twinkling on the water. There is an information board quoting letters written by Byron saying that his depression lifted when he came here and I can well understand why.

“Is this the most beautiful bay in Italy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

According to the local tourist office this is the most beautiful bay in the whole of Italy. Whether it is or not I do not know but it is very pretty. The best views are probably from the road up the hill or from the deck of the Portabello restaurant as the sun sets.
