“The best group meal we had...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

on our tour. The restaurant sits atop a promontory overlooking the bays of Sestri Levante. The dining room as huge picture windows overlooking the town. It was a very pretty setting. But even better was the wonderful meal and great service. The meal consisted of:
Very good white & red wines.
Pasta course that tasted like a light pesto sauce, but it also had green beans & potatoes in it. Delicious.
A veal cutlet was breaded and fried but not at all greasy. It too was delicious.
The dessert was OK - nothing to write home about.
Finished with espresso.

“Even great for a simple lunch...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

On a lunchtime whim, we took the lift through the cliff to the Castle and, even though there were two weddings in progress, the staff were pleased to show us to the outside eating area where we enjoyed a simple but excellent spaghetti & vongole dish overlooking the marina.

I would imagine that the restaurant is fantastic for a full dinner but don't let this put you off trying something less ambitious and less formal in this spectacular setting.

“Quality, ambience & service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

These three things are not always easy to come by, but our experience certainly combined each one. We took a bit of a stab in the dark and were not disappointed. From the rather unusual entrance through a red carpeted rock tunnel and then the elevator, to the stunning views from the restaurant terrace. Service was very attentive from the staff, and the food was wonderful. I would fully recommend this restaurant for a special evening out, and will return when we are next in Sestri.

“Expensive but well worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2012

BIG (really :) and tasty portions, especially a selection of local fish as antipasti, which could easily be enough if you are not starving. Try marinated cold fish cubes - unforgettable. Delicious beef made with wine, and other meals.
Combine it with stunning views and very courteous and efficient service, and you get the "definitely recommended" place.

“Poor service below average food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2010

We stayed at the hotel and thought it would be convenient to eat at the restuarant. We would have had a much better meal if we had went into the city. We should have known considering how easy it was to make the reservation and the fact that the restuant only had a couple other dinners. The worst was the service, or lack there of. It started with our appetizer. We ordered one and was going to share. There were four of us. We asked for additional plates but the waiter disappeared and never brought them. Instead he brought two of the four dinner meals out. They finished their meals before the rest of us. We got ours and they were both horrible. We tried to find wait staff for 45 minutes but they left the restuarant and never came back. My husband ordered the rack of lamb. It was WAY over cooked. It was like beef jerkey. No pink at all in the meat. He was hungry so chewed on a little bit of it but couldnt enjoy it. I had the grilled mixed fish. It was very bland and boring. We needed more water and wine but they never came back to check on us. Finally the waiter showed up again and offered to bring another plate of the lamb out but by this point my husband had lost his appetite and was so turned off. The waiter didnt offer anything, just took it. By this point it must have been close to closing time because he stood in the corner and would stare at us wanting us to leave. We finally asked for our bill and they were going to charge him for the uneaten lamb. We had to ask to have it removed. Eventually the manager came in and did remove it but it was a bad dinner. There wasnt even a view because the windows were plastic and you couldnt see out of them. One of the worst meals we have had in Italy
