“A new visit to this fabulous garni”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

When visiting Selva Gardena, we always stay at Garni Rosengarten.
The location in the outskirts of Selva Gardena is very nice with a beautiful view. The interior is full of local tree art work (please have a look at their Home Page). The breakfast room is just outstanding. What impressed us even more was the service and kindness of the hostess, Frau Senoner. She was efficient and utterly service minded. Just a couple of hundred meters away from the Garni, you will find one of the cable cars of Selva. There is no reason to stay at an expensive hotel. To dine at different restaurants in Selva is a much better choice than half pension at a hotel. I would recommend a meal at the restaurant "Speckkeller". When you walk home to the Hotel in the night from the centre of Selva, the majestic and enlightened Dolomite Mountains will impress most guests. During the day, the green meadows with cows grassing make Selva an idyllic spot. When you come back to the Garni from a walk in the mountains, you can sit at the neighbour restaurant and have a small lunch or a beer while watching the great scenery!

I was there for 4 nights in december 2011, with a group of friends, we all had double or triple rooms. In early december there was hardly any snow, we had booked weeks before so we decided to go anyway as we would have been charged for half of the stay, which is not nice.
The rooms were confortable and very clean, the breakfast was average, but what disappointed me is the unfriendliness of the owners, who did the very strict minimum. I thibk they had manu cancellations for lack of snow, we were nearly the only customers, but they didn't try to delight us in any way. We had had one person of the group who decided not to come, so instead of 2 double rooms my friends asked for a triple, they were charged i thibk half of the stay of the person not coming. Not very fair. Definitely won't go there again.

We stayed at this lovely Garni during the summer of 2006. She also gave us some very good advice about a walking trip into the mountains. Just a couple of hundred meters away from the Garni, you will find one of the cable cars of Selva. We will stay at Garni Rosengarten next time we visit Selva as well. There is no reason to stay at an expensive hotel. To dine at different restaurants in Selva is a much better choice than half pension at a hotel. I would recommend a meal at the restaurant "Des Alpes Stuben". When you walk home to the Hotel in the night from the centre of Selva, the majestic and enlightened Dolomite Mountains will impress most guests. During the day, the green meadows with cows grassing make Selva an idyllic spot.

A very nice family run Garni & Apartment. We had a "monolocale" or a 1 bedroom apt. It was really spacious and had all the comforts. Our apt. door was right in front of the Wellness Centre with jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Everything seemed brand new. There is a room for ski and boots (heated rail for ski boots). The place is by the ski runs and you ski to the hotel at the end of the day. Very quiet location a little bit out of the town centre. If you have no car, it is a bit of a hike to walk into town and back (it is uphill!). We would definitely recommend it!

  • Liked — location near the pistes
  • Disliked — hike to walk there
