“Treat yourselves! 2 thumbs up!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

This was our second stay at the Granvara, this time for our anniversary. The owners, staff and service are all wonderful and strive to make your stay the best it can be. The rooms and beds are very comfortable. The pool and spa area are great at the end of a day of hiking in the beautiful mountains and the view is gorgeous. The bar and dining room are lovely and the food is truly excellent. A must for any trip to the area!

Room Tip: It's worth the extra money for a view of the mountains from your room.

I have stayed at the Granvara now several times and it never fails to impress. Each individual is made to feel very special by the friendly, helpful staff. The food and service is so impressive as are the fantastic spa facilities. The view, whichever way you look, is breathtaking and the rooms are classy and comfortable. The Granvara is my most favourite place, I love it and I can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are lighter and have better views of spectacular scenery

Granvara is just a fantastic hotel. The rooms are very confortable and cozy, with a beautiful view to the mountains.
The service is flawless and the staff - and this really stands out - is very friendly and helpfull.
The food is nothing less than excellent, one of the many highlights.
The facilities are outstanding, with indoor and outdoor pools and amazing SPA area.
And, of course, all that surrounded by the most amazing landscape i've ever seen in my life.
Summing up: fantastic hotel in a fantastic place.
Really worth a visit!

The hotel is a classic Tyrolean style but top modern in a lovely location, very quiet with wonderful mountain views. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is absolutely excellent with a 3-4 course meal plus salad buffet every evening, with a good choice for each course. Wine list is also very good, obviously predominantly Italian and specifically from the region. The swimming pool is both in and outdoors and is heated and there is a small but perfectly good fitness room. The walk to the village is only about 15 minutes. Very well worth a visit.

We stayed here for a week in July with our 2 children and can only echo the comments of other reviewers about the quality of the hotel. The rooms were very comfortable, the food (breakfast and dinner) excellent and as we had fine weather we were able to make full use of the amazing indoor/outdoor pool. We (children included) were made to feel most welcome by all the staff at the hotel who could not have been more helpful.

There is a lot of walking for all abilities in the area and the hotel offered 3 guided walks in the week. The one we went on was moderate length for a regular walker. (But quite long if you are out of shape !) We also borrowed mountain bikes from the hotel and they gave us a route to follow which was just right for us.

In summary this is an outstanding hotel and a great place for a summer walking holiday.

If you want to get away from noise, stress, traffic and pollution, and you desire to dive into alpine nature while still staying in a luxury environment with all the possible comforts and pampering, then you must experience the Granvara Hotel & SPA! We wanted to spend a week in July in the Dolomites and we decided to stay at the Granvara as not only it was very well referenced here in trip advisor but also a good friend of us warmly suggested it, so we were expecting already a certain standard and beautiful hotel, also considering that in the Dolomites the quality/price ratio for accommodation is generally very good!...but our already high expectations were well exceeded by the elegant perfection of this place! We are used to travel for business in 4* hotels in different countries so we know by experience what the weak points of hotels can be but in the Granvara we could not find a single negative point! Their website reflects exactly the reality (if not slightly under-representing it), starting from the location, overlooking the val Gardena and the village of Selva and surrounded by the peaks of the Sassolungo mountain and the Sella group, to the gardens and hotel building, kept in perfect condition to the minutest detail. We have not visited the different types of rooms available but we can say that the junior suite is fantastic, the furniture, the floor carpet and the bathroom are new and sparkling clean, the room and the balcony are a very good size and the view is stunning! The restaurant, the bar and all the premises are extremely well kept and decorated in a very elegant way. What we really liked is that the hotel has a typical south tyrol character (nice wood and warm atmosphere) but interpreted in a very classy way. The personnel from the cleaning ladies to the restaurant staff to the receptionist and managers were very professional and helpful, always smiling and make you feel at ease (something you often miss in luxury hotels), ike you were at home. The food is, as mentioned on the website, a real gourmet, the breakfast food had excellent freshness and quality, the 5 course dinner was comparable to 1* michelin and the quantity is more than enough to fill you up even after 5 h walk in the mountain! The swimming pools (indoor and outdoor connected together) are not small as usually found in hotels, and you find many types of saunas, all new and elegantly decorated! Unfortunately we could not try the outdoor pool because of the weather, but swimming in the indoor one was excellent!
The only regret was that we did not have enough time to fully enjoy the spa area before dinner as we were arriving too late after a day out in the beautiful mountains. We definitely highly recommend this place to everyone who wishes a relaxing, luxury stay while still having plenty of opportunities to do outdoor activities.

Room Tip: The junior suite room type has a great view over the dolomite peaks and it is mainly south facing bu...

The Granvara is a hotel we have visited several times over the past 12 years and each visit has seen significant improvements on what was already a very high standard. This is an excellent hotel for relaxation and good food in a spectacular setting. Everyone is friendly and want to help make your stay as good as possible which makes you want to return time and again.

Well worth a visit.

A place of tranquillity and energy in a 15,000 metre square private garden and park with a unique 360º view of the South Tyrolean Dolomites, a UNESCO world natural heritage site. The Relais & Spa Hotel Granvara didn't get itsname by accident: "Granvara" comes from the Ladin and means "great wide meadow". For as far as the eye can see, the striking Dolomite mountains of Langkofel, Schlern, Seceda, Cuca, Stevia, Chedul, Cir and Sella surround you. The corresponding peace and feeling of security are guaranteed by the hotel's philosophy: the Relais du Silence philosophy. In the wellness and spa complex on Val Gardena's sun terrace, the hotel's own Dolomite spring and the use of natural sources of energy help guests to experience the gentlest rest and recuperation. Our head chef, Michael, and his team invite you on a very special gourmet journey, Italian specialities combined with traditional South Tyrolean fare. The unique position of Val Gardena's 4-star s hotel, surrounded by greenery and yet directly linked to the popular Sella Ronda, means that in winter you are guaranteed to be able to "ski in and ski out" at the Spa Hotel Granvara. ... more   less
