“Fabulous staff, location and views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

This hotel is easy access to town using the shuttle, its romantic, well organised and the staff our very helpful. The gardens are beautifully kept, the pool is clean, the breakfasts overwhelming and the rooms are spacey enough. I only had 3 nights here and every single one was great
The price seems high but honestly it's not because the cheaper hotels charge for parking and a less sumptuous surround

Room Tip: Just book it. Its quiet yet close enough

This was the fourth hotel we stayed in during our three vacation time in Italy. Far and away it was the most luxurious, with great views of the Mediterranean Sea. We sat outside on the balcony every morning with our breakfast and had to pinch ourselves to know it was real. The breakfasts were wonderful and varied. The breakfast staff were so positive. The rooms were clean and spacious. All the staff were extremely helpful and gave lots of good advice. I would highly recommend this resort hotel to anyone.

Just got back from Italy. We stayed at Hotel Mediterraneo Sorrento for three days. The hotel was beautiful with gardens and a pool. The sunsets where wonderful at happy hour. The rooms where clean and updated. The front deck was so nice and helpful with dinner reservations and excursions or anything you would need. We really enjoyed Daniele (aka Nobody) the bar tender. He made us laugh and feel welcome. I would come back to stay for a longer time, three days where not enough.

I loved this hotel! This was my 1st trip to Sorrento and stayed at Hotel Mediterraneo for 2 days, which was just not enough time. The views at this hotel are simply amazing. Breakfast is served every morning at the hotel’s restaurant on the 5th floor with a view of the Mediterranean. Breakfast was delicious meal with many choices including hot choices, eggs, bacon, etc. What else can anyone ask for!! The rooms were clean and modern some with better views than others. And free Wi-Fi!

There are several restaurants in walking distance, with one directly across the street, again with a 180-degree view of the Mediterranean. If you want to go into downtown Sorrento, hope on the shuttle, but you have to reservation a seat at the front desk. The shuttle will also take you back to the hotel and it’s free!!

There is beach access from the hotel for an additional fee however; you can also use the public access beach – no fee. The grounds are also beautiful - large pool and a pool bar for drinks and snacks. Looking forward to the day I can return to Hotel Mediterraneo.

The H M is located in a quiet area overlooking the Bay of Naples about 2km from the centre of Sorrento which can be accessed by a free shuttle service, 1.20 euro single fare by local bus stopping every 20 minutes outside the hotel - but about 25 euros by private taxi (on the meter !). The railway station (for Pompeii and Herculaneum) is about 20 minutes walk or you can take the local bus to the station in Sorrento.

The hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful which creates a very good atmosphere in which to relax. Everywhere is clean and well maintained. The bedrooms vary in size, outlook and bathroom facilities and can be noisy if you have loud neighbours. We did not eat in the restaurant preferring to explore locally. The Pool Bar serves good food freshly cooked at lunchtime. Breakfast is sumptuous with just about anything you can think of available from bacon to Prosecco.

The hotel has sea views to the front and, to the rear, there is a good sized leafy garden and a separate reasonably sized pool.

The port at Sorrento (ferries for Almalfi, Capri, etc) can be reached by the local bus, and confusingly a local 1.20euro shuttle, which saves going down in the lift and more importantly queuing for the lift on your return as a ferry load of people want to get up the cliff the easy way.

We arranged our own trips and on reflection would either do Herculaneum before Pompeii if on the same day, the public bus to Amalfi is best avoided on a Sunday (very crowded) but one way and back by ferry is worth considering. Capri is probably best done by a professional company if you want to see notable bits of the island.

Worth knowing: taxi fares are horrendous but public transport is cheap. Heculaneum is not well signed (station is Ercalano) but bear right then left and straight down noting on your right the Café de Paris for a drink on your return before catching the train. There is an excellent café with facilities in Pompeii. Opposite the hotel but down via the lift to the “beach” there is an excellent restaurant which is not expensive.

My family stayed at this hotel in September 2013. The views were beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would return to this hotel. Breakfast was included. Fresh prepared eggs were available as well as specialty coffees.

The hotel was centrally located and offered views of spectacular sunsets. The free shuttle into down was very convenient.

Our 5 night stay at the Mediterraneo Sorrento was wonderful. Greeted warmly by Aniello (with whom I instantly fell in love) at the front desk, we immediately felt like family.

Our room was not as small as other reviewers would have had me believe (room 201 was a triple with a balcony overlooking the pool and gardens) nor was the shower miniscule (our shower in Rome was *much* smaller). The room had good drawer and closet space, end tables and a desk. Our beds and pillows were very comfortable. The decor of the hotel is light and clean which is a terrific contrast to the complex beauty of the Amalfi Coast. Walking into the lobby after a day of sightseeing gave me an immediate feeling of peace and relaxation. The breakfast buffet is huge on the top floor with spectacular views. Several nights had live music at the bar downstairs.

We used the van service every morning to get into Sorrento but there is also the bus Linea "C" which stops right in front of the hotel. The City Sightseeing HOHO Sorrento bus also stops in front of the hotel. It is a 20+ minute walk into Sorrento and a 10 minute walk from the Sant'Agnello train station.

As for the fee, we booked well in advance, paid at the time of booking *and* got an extra discount for "liking" them on facebook. The deal was outstanding. I can't wait to return to this wonderful oasis.
