This lovely hotel is located a short drive from the tourist centre, and a free shuttle service is provided to and from the hotel at specified times during the day and evening. Travelers should note that local stores close from approximately 1 to 4 pm, so plan your shopping trips accordingly. The hotel provided transportation from the Naples airport for our party of 6, for a fee.
The hotel has a very contemporary feel to it, with the decorating being primarily in white. The lounge in the lobby area is open for drink service after 6 pm, including complimentary finger foods and some happy hour priced cocktails. One of the most charming elements of this lounge is the outdoor terrace that overlooks the sea. One of the bartenders is Daniel, aka "Nobody" and he certainly made us laugh many times during our stay. Daniel also works at the pool bar during the day.
The pool is beautiful, with lots of comfortable furniture with some of it in an area that can be enclosed. A "hot tub" sized pool is also available, but the water was colder than the main pool so I don't think it's intended to be used as a hot tub.
Beach access is available via private elevator from Level -1 of the hotel. We timed the ride, and it is about 35 seconds to get from the hotel down to the beach. One one occasion, the beach elevator was not available, so we took the public elevator from across the street. The elevator was closed at that time only because the summer season did not open until the next day. The beach has a bar, and drinks are approximately half the cost of the drinks at the hotel. It costs €1 each way to take the public elevator to the beach, but this is waived if you purchase something there.
A number of good restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel, including Ciao Toto and one across the street from the hotel and down about half a block that I cannot remember the name of. Breakfast is complimentary, and includes sweets, breads, cured meats, cheese, fresh fruit, and a few hot items, as well as typical breakfast beverages. Breakfast is served in the hotel's restaurant on the top floor.
We ate at the hotel restaurant once, and while the food and service were very good, the prices were higher than at local area restaurants.
We used the laundry service twice and were pleased with the results. Note that there is no pickup of laundry on weekends. If you leave a laundry bag on your bed on Saturday, the housekeeper will leave it there until Monday morning.
We loved our stay at Hotel Mediterraneo and would not hesitate to return.
