“Fantastic family run hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2010

My wife and I stayed there for 5 nights in September 2010. It's a great small hotel, with 30 rooms or so (I guess) in an excellent location. Rooms are comfortable, with air conditioning, cable TV and some with a great view. It's on a narrow street which is very quiet at night. Highly recommended.

We arrived without booking and had a large room with ensuite shower for 60 euros a night. This included a good buffet breakfast with plenty of choice although there was no sign of stocks being replenished after several diners had taken their fill. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, although their tips on where to eat in town were sometimes disappointing. Sant' Agnello is very handy for Sorrento and a lot cheaper. We got there from the airport by bus and train, both journeys covered by the cost of one 90 minute ticket. You can go direct from the airport to Sorrento although it costs 3 times as much. The Circumvesuviana train is very convenient for excursions to Vesuvius, Ercolana, Pompeii and Naples but expect to see plenty of graffiti and rubbish as you travel along. There's a handy bus outside Sorrento station for trips to the Amalfi coast, but be prepared to queue and to be squashed on the bus. Other reviewers might know a quieter time to go. We went on a rather expensive fast ferry from Sorrento to Capri. We knew the place was costly but were still unprepared for the 9 euros we had to pay for 2 coffees down by the harbour. If you want to use the funicular from the harbour to the town you have to buy your tickets first from a place opposite. At least the coffees are cheaper up there!

We only stayed here one night, but this place left a big impression. The staff were by far the friendliest in any of the hotels we stayed in on our trip. They also had a lot of great recommendations of inexpensive, but good restaurants and other things to do in the area. The hotel is not right in the town center which is great because you can actually sleep peacefully, but it is about a 20 minute walk into town. Mind you, some of that 20 minute walk is along breathtakingly beautiful coastline...no complaints here! There is also a convenient bus service if it's late or you're tired from walking so much. We didn't have a sea view, but our room did have a terrace overlooking the lemon and orange trees out back - very peaceful!

This place was very convenient walk into Sorrento city, close to the water, and had parking - all factors in us staying here. The rooms are bright and cheery, comfortable beds, modern bathroom, and very clean. It is on a nice quiet street, and the owners (family run) can recommend some amazing inexpensive places to eat. Overall very homey and comfotable.
There is a great breakfast buffet in the morning which consists of more than just a croissant (like most places in Italy), as well as wifi.
No hesitations about recommending it.

Breakfast is included, and I especially went for the cappachino. Best I've had. The milk and espresso were served in seperate pots. Location is close to train station, making it easy to venture north to Pompeii or south to Sorrento.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Angelina. The hotel is spotlessly clean, the breakfast is more than satisfactory. We especially liked coming back to the quiet, neighborhood feel of Sant'Agnello after the hustle and bustle of the more touristy areas, yet it's convenient to get to Sorrento, Pompeii, etc.. .Paolo's suggestion of restaurants and things to see were very good and he was most helpful in making reservations for us in Rome so we could catch our early flight. Paolo's father was charming and helpful as well. We certainly recommend the hotel and hope to come back ourselves.

Three yrs. ago, my cousin and I stayed at Hotel Angelina, and found the family running the hotel very friendly and accomodating. This year, my cousin visited with her grandson, and the dad even took them to the train station their last day. They would have probably missed the train if not for the free lift. This family is delightful, the hotel comfortable and affordable. We hope to go there again some day!
