“"A Sorrento Gem"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

This historic hotel is near the center of Sorrento, but best take a cab at night. The staff were great,AAA+ . Our room was a two level suite with a very large balcony, however our bed was a bit hard and the a/c was marginal .The pool area was large and spacious but the beach area was small. We did not eat in the restaurant at the hotel however we ate breakfast every morning which was excellent.
Over all the stay was a very good experience .

We stayed for eight days and had a super time. Positives are the large pool, bbq lunch, concierge, interior of the main areas of the hotel, great beds, pontoon, and the staff who are very helpful, friendly and professional. the grounds and setting is wonderful too.
Negatives are the distance to the main centre, expensive tall ship, lazy pool man and dirty pool, high charge for water (should be included), tired room interiors and if you are staying more than 3 days the lack of variety at breakfast.

First time staying at the GHC. Let me first say, I was just a bit concerned about staying this far from Piazza Tasso, after several previous stays in the center. I now realize how what a non issue that is! This hotel is magnificent. The rooms are beautiful, the linens are decadent, the grounds are stunning, the staff is wonderful, and the food is incredibly delicious. Need I say more? Thank you Steve for your hospitality and and I want to thank Luigi for the exceptional service and good humor at the table. Oh one more note--GHC serves the best breakfast EVER!

A short walk from the heart of Sorrento. We had a water/pool view room suite. Sitting room, bedroom and large bathroom with tub and shower. A large double level balcony with stunning views. The staff and proprietor could not have been more accommodating and friendly. While we were only there for one night we had a great dinner and breakfast with outdoor seating. Walking around the grounds I noticed how ideal this place would be for weddings. I spent a lot of my time capturing the perfect pictures with the sunrise and sunset glows. Very romantic!

Room Tip: Take an oceanview/pool view room.

I have stayed here several times but each time it get better and better. Many rooms have been renovated in a sexy way with beautiful old ceramic tiles in the shower. Very quiet location with great pool and incredible Japanese restaurant on the spectacular cliff. Special thanks to Stephen, Luca and Lionello

The hotel and it's grounds are superb with exceptional views over the Bay of Naples. The staff are all incredibly friendly and accommodating. We had a tremendously relaxing and enjoyable time. The grounds are massive so even if the hotel is full it still feels quiet. I've read complaints about location; it's a 15 minute stroll to the centre of Sorrento and yes it can cost €20 in a cab. Thoroughly recommended!!

We (2 adults, 2 boys aged 10 and 9) stayed for 3 nights, and were blown away by the beauty of the setting, the astonishing breakfasts (quails' eggs anyone?), the peacefulness, and the stunning views. The greatest strength of this hotel, however, is the friendliness of the staff. They are all wonderful - from the lovely man at the pool bar who made friends with my annoying 9-year-old and kept making him non-alcoholic cocktails, to the extraordinarily helpful concierges, to the smiling waiters, EVERYONE was superb, and made us feel very welcome. I always worry when taking children to "posh" hotels because many of them are a bit sniffy about kids, but the Cocumella should be applauded for their staff training because it is spot on. We also splashed out on hiring the hotel tall ship, the Vera, for a day trip to Capri, which was outrageously expensive, but worth every penny.
