“An absolutely beautiful boutique hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

We spent 4 days of our Italy trip at this beautiful villa. There are not enough adjectives to describe its' beauty, charm and comfort in addition to a staff that is top notch, helpful and personable beyond compare. About a 20 minute walk from the town of Sorrento, so it is outside the major congestion. Extremely clean, breakfasts were more than adequate with the option of ordering lunch or dinner in advance to be served either in their stunning gardens or indoors. We would certainly desire a return visit if in the area!

We have just returned from a six night stay at the Villa dei D'Armiento. Due to a slight booking blip we spent 4 nights in the Terrace room, this was an amazing room with stunning views of Sorrento and the bay of naples, the room is small but sun all day on the terraces made up for that. The next room was a deluxe which was much bigger but no terrace, Our final night was in the Terrace Suite, it was a shame we had to move around so much in the Villa but at least we did get to see a selection of rooms. The suite was nice, having two terraces was great as there was always one in the sun. The staff where great, very helpful. Breakfast was lovely. My only complaints are that in the description of the villa it said it was 15 minute walk into Sorrento, in fact it was 25 minutes. Also they do not serve pizzas from the wood fired oven unless there is an large group, wedding etc...! It would of been nice to come back after a long day sight seeing to enjoy a pizza in the wounderful grounds but instead we had to venture out again to eat at night. Please dont let this little niggle put you off visiting though, it is a lovely Villa to stay in, Maria was a great help from point of booking then throughout our stay, and Sorrento is a beautiful place to visit and enjoy the Amalfi coast and Capri.

Room Tip: Terrace room is very private, great if sunny. Our favourite, BUT Aircon is noisy.

The Villa was our best accommodation experience in Italy. The furnishings and Villa grounds are really stunning. The breakfast is delicious and the service is very warm and attentive. We were upgraded to a jr. suite which was very spacious and stylishly decorated. We LOVED our stay.

My wife and I stayed here for the last few days of our Honeymoon, expecting a quiet and luxury retreat as indicated by their website. Its location being away from the hubub of Sorrento attracted us.
2 of the 3 nights we were kept awake until midnight by dreadful loud music from the hotel opposite. I would not have paid 40 euros per night for this treatment, let alone the 260 euros!!! They were my worst nights sleep in the entire of Italy (and we stayed in the centre of Rome and Venice where the rooms were very quiet despite the noise outside).
After the second noisy night we were told it was very rare for there to be noise and we were 'unlucky'. Reading reviews on trip advisor and bookings.com, I am not wholly convinced by this. We did however only pay for 2 nights stay as a good gesture.

Apart from the horrendous music, the hotel itself is nice, but lacks certain basics that I would expect from a hotel of this price. Particularly the following:
Very poor coffee. The milk was uht and tasted dreadful.
Orange juice was not freshly queezed. Instead a cheap sugary substitute.
AC didn't seem to work
Wifi was slow
No complimentary water in the room (unlike every other hotel in Italy)
It's a 30 minute walk into sorrento and unlike other hotels, there is no shuttle service.

Generally the hotel could be very nice but is location next to the hotel/nightclub means that it could never be 4 or even 5 stars.

I have been twice this year already, once in April with my friends & I loved it so much I recently went back with my husband. The Hotel is gorgeous and the staff friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The area around the hotel has many fantastic restaurants! I have told all my friends about it!
Thank you.

The last stop on our Italy tour was the Villa Dei D'Armiento in the little village of Sant'Agnello close to Sorrento. In a nut shell: a period residence converted into a smart hotel.

Location: The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the Sant'Agnello station on the Circumvesuviana line with connections to Naples, Pompeii, etc. Its also a longish and partly scenic walk from Tasso Square, the centre of Sorrento. The terrace cafe on a cliff, is just across from the hotel with great views across the sea. Great for an evening of sea-gazing with some wine and some pretty passable fare.

The Hotel: We stayed in a 'junior suite' in a annexe (of two suites). The 'suite' was simply a larger room compared to the smaller ones in the main villa, and not a set of rooms as usually understood. Aside from that, there were no other issues. The advantage of the 'suite' in the annexe was that it came with its own little garden and outdoor shower! The look and feel is very closely co-ordinated and clearly well cared for. The pool was small and should be fine for cooling dips amidst some sun-worship.

The staff were helpful and the breakfast was the usual spread of cold meats, cheeses, etc. The addition of eggs made to order by the helpful lady in the open kitchen made it better.

This is a small and comfortable property, though despite the efforts of the staff – professional but hands off - we felt its missing the warmth that would make it the cozy place it wants to be.
