I was completely shocked by Seven Hostel - it was amazing. The entire place was huge and fancy - it felt more like a posh hotel than a hostel, and we got a great low price. We stayed in an 18 bed dorm which had tall bunkbeds (no need to duck or watch your head while sitting up on the bottom) which were nice and comfortable with large locking cabinets to store your belongings in. It didn't feel crowded at all - the room was massive and there were dividing walls to keep it feeling more private. The bathrooms were clean and had many, many showers - we never had to wait to use one. The property was lovely - the walkway to the second floor rooms was a balcony overlooking a courtyard/common area, and the main floor had a restaurant and bar as well as a lounge area and a computer room. I can't say enough about how nice the whole place was. I wish we had spent more than a weekend there, I would definitely like to go back.
The hostel was located in a nice area, although it's a bit far from Sorrento (where we had originally planned to stay). We walked to and from Sorrento each day, which takes about 25 minutes if you aren't stopping to take pictures or stare at the ocean and scenery (it took us about 1 1/2 hrs the first time), but either way it's a beautiful walk. If you prefer to be quicker, there were also buses or maybe the train.
There were a couple small negatives - there was no working wifi when we were there, which meant we waited to use one of the 3 computers that were publicly available for a pretty long time. Also, the shower stalls had very, very lightly frosted glass doors, which looked very nice you realized that when you're in one, it's almost completely clear and people can see you showering. Lastly, the one night that we decided to have appetizers at the bar while waiting for a friend, the server must have forgot to put in our order because we waited for ages for it and he looked startled when he saw us again and rushed off to get it, and when it finally came the food was hot on the outside but stone cold in the middle. Judging from other reviewers saying the food was great, though, I figure this was just an unlucky negative experience and that it's usually very good.
I would seriously recommed this hostel to anyone wanting to visit Sorrento, Sant'Agnello, or travel to other places nearby like the Amalfi Coast. I still can't believe how nice this place was, especially considering how cheap it was!
