“We struck lucky”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

Room clean and comfortable, breakfast buffet perfect to set you up for a day's walking in the mountains, and dinner excellent. This was a real treat for us, and we were very well looked after from start to finish. Booking (by email) was easy, Matteo welcomed us warmly and everyone made us feel at home. We had a great week - thank you!

La Villa Martha was everything we hoped it would be and we can't wait to go back and bring our 5 year old son next time. The hotel was charming, the staff were helpful, friendly and just so very nice, and the location was perfect, walking distance from restaurants, shops, ski rentals and the lift ticket office, but just far enough away to make the evenings peaceful and quiet. Matteo and his family were exceptional hosts, responsive when we first booked, answering questions we had before we departed from the US, and waiting up for our late-night arrival at the hotel. Our room was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities we expect but with the addition of an amazing view of the mountain peak from our balcony. Meals were wonderful, with the morning breakfast a feast of everything you could imagine wanting for a hearty Tyrolean breakfast and served with made-to-order coffee drinks that were better than the ones we had in Florence's cafes. We ate dinner at Villa Martha one evening and it was wonderful, the food was fantastic, the wine list was great, with both local and international choices and the service and table setting were elegant. And the town and the skiing were amazing, some of the best I've ever skied including my trips to France, Colorado, Utah and Lake Tahoe, CA. Aided by good suggestions from Matteo, the owner and host, we explored several different ski resorts connected together by both a great lift system and a valley-wide bus system that was frequent and efficient. My wife is a low-intermediate skier and they had plenty of terrain to suit her and when I wanted to venture to tougher slopes, there was an abundance of higher intermediate and advanced slopes across a number of interconnected resorts to explore. The Sellaronda was a great way to see much of the skiing terrain and a fun excursion one day.

We made a random booking for four nights with full board at Hotel Villa Martha which turned out to be a fantastic choice! We had a wonderful stay at this cosy and friendly family-run hotel with excellent service and great food (breakfast and dinner!). We would definitely recommend Villa Martha to anyone coming to Val Gardena and I'm positive my husband and I will return if not already next year, definitely in the near future. Great food (a rich breakfast buffe, 4 or 5 course dinners and fantastic desserts! And Matteo, the owner, has a fantastic service minded way, always eager to make sure that everything was to our satisfaction.

Our stay started with warm welcomes by Matteo and his family. Even before we arrived, Matteo was most helpful with checking the connecting bus schedule from Bozen/Ponte Gardena to Santa Cristina because the website for the bus was all in Italian and I couldn't figure out how to navigate the site. We truly enjoyed their breakfast and dinner (especially the desserts). Very creative and great presentation for appetizers and desserts. The room had an awesome Mt. view and nice big balcony. We stayed in other cities in Italy, and this hotel was the only place that had a bathtub which we really enjoyed relaxing after a tough climb. Wifi didn't work well in the room, so I had to go downstairs in the lobby, but it was a bonus to listen to Matteo's piano there. The only downside is you have to climb fairly steep road up ~5-7 min or so from the bus stop Dosses with suitcases could be difficult for some folks. It looks like the buses are avail. during ski season, but there was nothing when we were there to take you up the hill. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone. We would love to come back to ski next time.

Dear Family Tettamanti and all Villa martha staff
Sorry it has taken so long for our review but time has flown so quickly but that has not diminished the memories of one of our best ski holidays.
The hotel was perfect for our needs from the warm reception to the lovely mountain view bedrooms and not to mention the superb food and hospitality. Even the crowd from Arnhem were good fun!!

We look forward to returning in the near future
Many thanks and kind regards from

In the end of February we had the pleasure to stay at Villa Martha for 1 week. From the very first minute we felt very welcome at the small family driven hotel. Everything is in fine condition a the cosy hotel which is well situated close to the ski buss, and at good snow conditions you can ski almost to the hotel reception. To mention at the most, however, is the fantastic breakfast and dinner. Typic Italian food very well prepared. Especially the dessers was very good.
All in all we recomend this hotel as very good.
Best regards

Stayed at Villa Martha in February 2010. This is a small family-run hotel with personal service. Our room faced south and had a great view of the Dolomite massif Sassolongo. We came to ski and access to the lifts was easy. We had a short walk in the morning to the ski-bus stop and then a few minutes ride to the Col Raiser gondola station. At the end of the day, you could ski back to within 100m of the hotel. The hotel is small and cozy with maybe 10 to 12 rooms. The food was wonderful and the desserts were a special creation prepred by chef Matteo - who also occasionally plays the piano in the bar. Breakfast was a selection of cereals, breads, pastries, nuts and fruits. There is a small bar off the reception area where drinks and snacks are available. Matteo makes a great cappucino and Venetian Spritz!
