“Not as expected!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

The new rooms are very nice.
The old rooms severely dated and no good at all.

We had one of each this summer and the one with ocean view (most expensive) was a mess.

The staff was rude and did not really care. The breakfast sloppy and the common areas had an old smell to them.

We did not like this hotel at all!

The only positive thing I can say is that the location is good.

Room Tip: Get a refurbished room - or another hotel!

Clean and nice hotel. I´d liked a lot about feeling that they have there. Hotel is located quite close to the sea. Brekafast is simple but tasty. They have sun beds top of the hotel. Nice view over the city.

Room Tip: Ask for 5th floor junior suite.

Arriving by car was initially difficult as there is no parking at the hotel. Room was spacious, clean and the bathroom was large enough with a walk-in shower. Furnishings were good and the bed was large and comfortable. Car parking was across a very busy road on the promenade car park and apparently at risk overnight.
Breakfast was good and included in the price.
We are not impressed with Sanremo as it does not have the Riviera "feel"as so many other towns do.

We stayed here overnight on the 22nd June on our way down to Italy.

Let me start off by saying that we wouldn't go back to San Remo again, as we didn't much like the town as a place to visit, so the slightly negative review may be coloured by this.

Positives - the staff were great - we had asked for a reserved parking space and one was provided (at a charge) in a locked garage, so we felt our car was secure at the start of our journey down to Tuscany. There is a restaurant but we weren't inspired by the menu so went out looking, and found a great little place down a backstreet. When we came back, the night porter (who couldn't speak a word of English) was very helpful and made sure we were catered for in the large downstairs lounge until we were ready for bed.

Average - the breakfast was well laid out but for me slightly uninspiring, however I am demanding at the breakfast table and most people would have been OK. The rooms were small but again, we had a sea view with a balcony and this was very nice. I guess we requested a sea balcony room so we got one!

Negatives - there weren't any really.

If we went to San Remo we'd certainly give it another go, but suspect we won't be going back.

In summary - nice hotel, shame about the place.

Room Tip: The hotel is a little dated, so go for the view and just enjoy!

We still here, in Jolli Palace at the moment.
I can say definitely nice hotel. We have a room with a balcony and the sea view. We stay in a big, nice and clean room. Staff friendly and very helpful. The weather is amazing, so we spend a lot of time on the beach just cross the road. Ask a receptionist about the beach excess and they will give you a card with a stamp of 10% discount for a beach furniture. The beach itself is free of charge though. So totally we paid for an parasol and 2 sunbeds only 8 euros. The restaurant on the beach is quite nice and the prices are affordable.
Getting back to the hotel: breakfast in the morning is quiet good and fulfilling: good variety of cheeses, gams, cakes, cereals. The hotel is situated very central, short walk to the city centre, the famous casino is cross the road. If you going to dine by the sea side closer to the port, make sure you bring enough money. The seafood restaurants at the piazza cross the road from Porto are something else! They have live lobsters ready for you to cook, approx. price is 48 euos. Cheaperr dinner you will find in the centre on via Matteotti. So, yes, I love staying in this hotel. We are leaving tomorrow and I m already getting sad. This is a very good hotel.

We spent a week in this wonderful family run hotel in San Remo with my wife. Our room was on the 5th floor of a old romantic palace with a direct view to the mediterrenean sea. Beautiful!

The room was well sized for an European hotel and the price was reasonable. The included breakfast was served in a lovely dining hall on the 2nd floor of the hotel. Breakfast was tasty and included more than enough options for european and other travellers. On top of the hotel there is a sun terrace where you can enjoy the Mediterrean sun in peace.

The location of the hotel in Sanremo is ideal! The russian church and casino are next door just across one small street. After the casino the main shopping area and old town start. In front of the hotel there are beaches and a perfect pedestrian only road that covers over 20km to the east and 10km to the west right by the sea. Lovely!

If your interested in bicycling there is also a renting spot very close to the hotel. From here you can get a bike and easily cycle to any of the close towns like Armia Taggia. We even cycled to Bussana Vecchia.

Overall the service in the hotel was great. The family running the hotel is extremely friendly and willing to help with anything you need.

We are sure to come back someday. Thank you Lolli family for a great visit!

Room Tip: request for a seaview:)

I stayed here at the end of August/beginning of September so it was still nice & warm. The hotel is a 15-minute walk (approx) from the train station. My friend and I chose to walk, dragging our luggage behind us. It wasn't too bad. The hotel is located right by the water, and there are incredible views from the breakfast room/restaurant dining room. We got upgraded to a sea-view room. In order to see the water, we had to go on our balcony and look south. We were directly across a park with beautiful palm trees so the view was still pretty great. The room itself was definitely dated. Don't expect a fancy boutique hotel. The furniture showed its age, as did the linens, but it was clean and taken care of by lovely Italian ladies. The bathroom looked like it was from the 70's, with no shower, just a bathtub with a long hose, and a very ancient hairdryer. The towels were quite worn (not soft).
Things we loved: the rooftop with proper loungechairs for tanning - we paid for regular chairs at the beach (around 6-10 euros); at night, the lights of the town are beautiful from up there. Also, breakfast!! It totally beats american continental breakfasts anyday. The waiters look like they could star in their own comedy show (physical comedy, that is) and I think I wrote a screenplay in my head for them while I was there. There were lots of sweets, which I loved, and THE MOST AMAZING CROISSANTS I have ever had (and that's saying a lot, seeing as how we had just come from France) - they have a subtle flavor of lemons woven into them, and they serve them warm out of the oven. They only put a few out at a time so keep your eye out for them! There is also great coffee (besides the great coffee that you can get yourself, you can also order espresso & lattes from the kitchen) and toast/cheese/meats. And, as I mentioned, the view of the water is amazing. I found the staff to be quite friendly and helpful, mostly family members, I believe. The one very negative thing - the wifi is more than spotty, it hardly worked during the entire 5 days we were there. Also - we didn't have a fridge in our room, so we asked for some ice to chill our Italian wine, and the manager gave us one bowl of ice! We did our best, but ultimately the sparkling wine was still warm.

San Remo has really good restaurants -- we went to Spaccanapoli for pizza (stupendous), Antica Trattoria Nuovo Piccolo Mondo for pasta (I had penne all' Arrabbiata - fantastically spicy), Vela D'Oro (we got a 20 euro deal, with lasagne al forno, dessert - dolce del giorno, and a glass of local wine) - my personal favorite. Just a few places we tried :) There are grocery stores but you've got to leave the touristy area. Head just north of where the famous markets are... we found some in that area that have much better prices than places more central to the beach. Last piece of advice - plan your meals well! Don't get caught hungry during the siesta time... :)

Room Tip: The floors in the hallway are squeaky - if you can get a room that's far from the elevator, that...
