“Huge disappointment!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

We visited this hotel last summer and would NEVER return! The interior of the hotel had been redone, the rooms we stayed in were lovely but the pool and "private" beach were terrible. The pool area is run down , and the chaises and tables were probably from 1960, broken, unusable, and the pool, although a classic design had tiles missing and broken. The "private" beach is actual a beach club, not owned by the hotel, and hotel guests are allowed to sit in any of the vacant chairs not in use. The public beach is filled with trash.
The service at the hotel was unbelievably bad. The concierge for the most part could not have been less helpful. A terrible experience.

“If You Love the Ocean and Pools, You'll Love this Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

* We stayed here in a Junior Suite. What a room and view! Absolutely fabulous.
* The grounds are spectacular and the pool area is fun and inviting. The pool-side wait staff is very attentive.
* The breakfast is served buffet style and the wait staff is jacketed in formal attire.
* We loved the room so much we spent a lot of time there. The desk area is excellent. I was able to set up the laptop and conduct some business. Wi-Fi was included for our stay.
* The hotel is very popular with visitors from the UK. We met some very interesting folks during our stay.
*The bar area had a pianist during our stay. It's a great spot for a cocktail in the afternoon.
* We did have an interesting event during our stay. We ate dinner at a small restaurant just to the right of the hotel (down the steps turn right). After paying the bill the waiter ran after us and stated that we had left a 10 Euro note rather than a 50 Euro note. Well, I gave him a 50 Euro note and had no idea if he was correct or just padding his tip. I don't remember the name of the restaurant.
* This is an excellent hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and I would stay here again.

“Very Pleasant and relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

After a long drive from Florence I was more than happy to arrive here. Booked through LHW and got a free upgrade which is always nice. Flowers and courtesy wine too but hey each to his own. The biggesest attraction was the swimming pool which my son loved, its enormous with an underwater passageway. Good pool-side service as well with snacks and sandwiches etc.. Great breakfast buffet and the concierge knows all the best restaurants and even better he can arrange your table booking because I found the ones who told me they were full reserved suddenly became available when he called the owners. Everyone in San Remo knows the Royal Hotel so they usually bend over backwards after to accomodate you. Short walk into town. Nice bar too with musicians during high season.

“Simply the best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

This hotel is a great place to stay overnight or even for an extended stay. San Remo might have drawn the rich and famous in earlier times and the hotel would have been a preferred place to stay in those times, but today the hotel has been modernised and offers guest a glimpse of what the high life might be like for reasonable rates.
The hotel is sited on a large area of land with expansive gardens, pool and guest parking. There is large public areas for relaxing as well as a wellness facility and large pool. There is a bar in the hotel as well as poolside. The breakfast was served in the large breakfast rooms or on the terrace, your choice.
The guest rooms are large with a large bathroom with shower and bath. décor in the rooms is stunningly ornate with Italian charm.
It is a short walk to the beach areas, to the casino and city pedestrian shopping areas. There are many restaurants to choose from as well as plenty of shopping opportunity if this is your interest.
