After staying in 2 4 star hotels within the week, one being a Best Western, this certainly was a major let down. Firstly, the hotel is located on a pedestrian only zone so you cant drive up to it. This is never mentioned in any hotel communication. The correct thing would be to direct you to the parking area, from where you can contact the hotel. You actually have to double park and go and call someone from the hotel to get all your cases. The policia did tell me to move on.
After half an hour of figuring out how to get to the hotel, the middle aged, gray haired, self opinionated receptionist was so unhelpful a DIY check in, in a foreign language, would have been a more useful option. In fact everytime I had the misfortune of dealing with him, he made me feel as if he was doing me a favour. We did ask for rooms on higher floors(advise received from trip advisor) and were expecting something with some light in it. We were extremley surprised at how dark and dingy the rooms were. I was traveling with my kids and they were put on a seperate floor to us which taking into account how long before we actually booked was poor. Bearing in mind that this is a "4 star" hotel, breakfast is adequate but the view from the top of the hotel is stunning. They have an amazing roof top area where you can tan but the food and drink facilities were closed! There is no pool, even a plunge pool would suffice so when you get hot, you have to jump under the shower! Again, not what I expected from a 4 star hotel. They do have an area where they store barbeques etc behind a very amatuerish screen that is more than big enough for a free standing plunge pool.
The rooms were quite noisy and we could hear our neighbors talking on the phone!! The walls are made of drywalling with very little insulation.
The rooms have electric blinds but all 6 of us had to figure out how to use them, there are switches on the wall and next to the bed(FYI) that you close at night but dont be fooled into thinking it keeps the noise out. It doesn't.
If you like using a brick for a pillow, having a self opinionated, argumentative receptionist and lots of noise, then this is the hotel for you.
Taking the cost of the accommodation together with the EUR 50(you get a EUR4 discount from the hotel!!!!!!) you'll spend to go to the beach, perhaps some of the more expensive better appointed hotels would be a better option.
I for one won't stay here again I would rather splurge on the Royal Hotel!!!
