“very nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

I spent 5 days in this hotel with my husband and son, and we have really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were simple, but confortable and very clean, the breakfast was abundant and with plenty of food and choice. The staff was friendly and the director has been always really kind with us and with our son. It's a perfect place to stay in Riva!

Could not praise this hotel enough. The Staff in the hotel from the reception staff and the kitchen staff were all very friendly and helpful. We stayed a week in September 2012 and stayed on a half board basis. Every morning when you come down for breakfast you are given the evenings dining menu (4 courses) where you can make your selection. This seemed a good idea as it meant you knew what uou would be having in the evening to eat so therefore you could have lunch outside of the hotel and know what you weer going to be having in the evening. The evening meal consist of a first course buffet where there is lots of choice and then the 3 further course are brought to your table by the waiting staff. The food was of fantastic quality and everything from the presentation and the speed of service was perfect, there was also a very varied menu day to day. How anyone can fault the quality of the food here is beyond me. The room we stayed in did not have an outside area and looked out over a back alley so the view was not great but the room was a great size and was tidied thorougly on a daily basis. The hotel is a little compact but there is a small decking area on the roof with a few sun loungers and 2 exercise machines which I can list as the only drawback. Assuming you wished to use the running machine you would in effect being annoying anyone else on the terrace who perhaps wanted some quiet. We found no probnlems with the noise in the hotel at all but the waiting area iun tyhe recption did seem to be a little small. Having said this we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and weer treated very well from the moment we arrived. This is a great little hotel with friendly staff and I would not hesitate to recommend it to any traveller

We booked this holiday through Newmarket Travel. It proved to be a very good choice. The hotel is tucked away up a little shopping street in the center of Riva. The staff were wonderful nothing was too much trouble. The food and service were very good. Our particular room was very large and we had a big sofa which was good. I think it was a sofa bed. Everything was clean. Although we were in the centre and our room was located at the back of the hotel we never heard any street noise. Our friends however were in the front and once they had closed their shutter and window they heard no noise. The hotel has air conditioning and a lift.

Room Tip: Room 105 on the first floor is very spacious and very quiet.

We recently stayed in the Antico Borgo hotel, Riva del Garda, This is an excellent hotel. The staff are extremely helpfully and friendly. The rooms are very spacious, clean and comfrotable. The room, was modern and had plenty of storage. The food was excellent as were the waiting service. The location of this hotel is excellent for people wanting to explore without a car. Overall this is an excellent hotel and we would definitely stay there again.

Just returned from a 7 night stay at this hotel. The hotel is ideally situated on a small pedestrian shopping street close to the Lake and lots of bars and restaurants. Our room on the 2nd floor was spotlessly clean but very small. There was a decent size wardrobe with a safe and a fridge. The bathroom was modern compared to other hotels we have stayed in in Italy. Clean fluffy towels changed daily. However, the room was noisy. You could hear the people in the rooms next door and above talking, moving about and yes, going to the toilet ! A set of ear plugs is a must.

We were on half board basis as this was the only option available when booking. We would have preferred B&B as we like to eat out. We did eat at the hotel one night. The food was acceptable, but no where near as good as the meals we had in local restaurants. You have to choose your evening meal in the morning and we were served a 4 course meal in 35 mins. Some people may not have a problem with this.

Riva is beautiful, lots to see and do. The walk to Torbole is worth doing, although some of the cyclists on the path are a bit mental. Boat ride to Limone is also a nice day out. Prices are noticeable cheaper than other places in Italy.

I would return to Riva and stay at this hotel again, but B&B and in a different room.

Room Tip: Avoid room 202 - a bit small.

Me and my partner stayed here 2nd to 7th of September. Booked through HotelsBooked.com. I found them to be extremely helpful having expressed concern at the bad reviews. They explained that it was due to bad attitude from a couple of transfer drivers. I called the hotel to confirm my booking through HotelsBooked.com. I had a little trouble with the EasyJet website as they make it hard to find the online check in button. HotelsBooked took me through the process and all was fine. We flew into Milan Malpensa which is 2.5 hours away and about E15.00 in Tolls. The Italians are a little more aggressive on the roads so beware! The buses to Riva are only a total of E12.00 and they get there in good time so use them if you are on a strict budget. Don't be scared to ask the airport staff but learn to say 'hello' 'goodbye' 'please' and 'thanks', it will go a long way to gaining respect. On the way to Riva we decided to follow the SatNav and apart from a couple of wrong decisions at toll junctions all went well. If you travel from Milan, remember 3 roads, A8, A4 and A22 then you will get very close to Riva del Garda (or Torbole) signs. The scenery as you approach becomes stunning but the real treats are once checked in to Hotel Antico Borga and explore. The Hotel is in the centre of the town which is only a couple of miles long. Parking is free on white lines and car parks are cheap compared to UK. The Hotel concierge will tell you where to park if you stop close and leave your bags with them. Hotel Antico Borgo has secure underground parking for 12euros a day.
The Hotel staff, especially concierge, Livia and the restaurant manager whose name I did not catch, made everything simple. Imagine walking out of the hotel and looking up to see a mountain at one end of the town, then walking for 5 minutes in the opposite direction to find a beautiful square and then the lake lined with mountains.....heaven!!! We have travelled quite a lot and we both agree Riva is top of the beauty list. The rooms are contemporary with good quality and very new fixings. Flat screen TV's and Air con. Superb shower but no bath. Plenty of fresh daily towels of different sizes. The food was 8/10 for qualty and there was plenty of it. 4 courses for dinner! There were many Brits and Germans mixing in our hotel and all seemed happy with the place as a base to use. We did not use the gym. The windows were new enough to block out any noise from the town for early to bed people. The last bar in town closed at 1:00am which is good enough for the type of resort that it is. We would recommend this hotel to anyone not into clubbing and propping the Hotel bar up but otherwise choose another because the bar is small. Prices are OK for drinks in the town and at the hotel and we did not feel ripped off anywhere. Thanks to HotelsBooked.com and thanks to Hotel Antico Borgo....see you again in the future.

Room Tip: No lift to the first floor rooms, just stairs so speak to the hotel before you arrive in case you ne...

Stayed here for two weeks in August and loved every minute. Initially after reading some negative reviews I was a bit apprehensive but had nothing to fear as this is an excellent Hotel with excellent staff.
The hotel is located in a small street in the centre of town and ideal for everything going on, from shops, restaurants, entertainment, ferries and bus services.
On a half board basis I really enjoyed the 4 course genuine Italian meals served by really attentive and friendly staff who had been properly trained to provide a service as intended.
Our room was first class, spotlessly cleaned each day with toiletries and towels replaced and bed linen changed every 2nd day.
Staff and management treated each guest as someone special and couldn't do enough to assist even a seemingly minor request.
Having stayed in 4 other good quality Riva del Garda hotels over several years I will certainly return to stay at Antico Borgo

Room Tip: Pay the very little extra and get a room with a balcony
