back again
we came last year with national holiday and again this year the hotel still has the highest standards of service ,the girls at this family run hotel look after you on breakfast and dinner service always helpful the chefs preparing food presented well ,Kevin on the bar as ever a card and great service at all times the house keeping girls keep your room clean and tidy and leavening it cool for your return after a hot day out .lovely pool area plenty of sun beds and chairs .hotel is a nice walk from the lake and passes some lovely hotels and gardens and old villas on the way the virgilio is in a residential area which is nice and quiet with the mountains in the back ground that form a impressive background not for getting our two drivers /friends Tony & Ian who looked after us on the long journey but never failed to keep us laughing and safe on our road trip both having very good customer service skills never failing to ensure we was all ok every day and being very approachable at any time .and finely being waved off by the family on the start of our journey home was priceless

Room Tip: the rooms facing the mountains have the sun all day

We have recently stayed at the Vigilio. and after reading the reviews on here, we knew what to expect. the Hotel itself was very clean, though a little dated. I have stayed in more luxurious rooms, however, the food and the staff at this Hotel, more than make up for the plain rooms. its a family run Hotel, and they run it with pride. The food is excellent. the only down side was that we like a little walk in the evenings after a big meal, and it was a bit too far for comfort down into the town, and there is nowhere directly near the Hotel were you can have a little stroll. view of Mountains superb, and I get the feeling that before all the flats were built the Hotel would have been in a lovely location.

Room Tip: The higher rooms have the better views

Stayed at this hotel on a National Holiday trip. Nice clean hotel, lovely breakfast choices. Bedroom had a mountain view which was lovely, a small balcony and a very tiny shower. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Whilst there is a walk to the lakeside in Riva Del Garda it is well worth it. Riva is beautiful .

Everyone must be wondering as to why I keep writing for this property. But if I didnot then it would be very unfair on my part. This Hotel deserves this and much more.
If you want to be treated warmly & well looked after then this is the place to be in.
It is a very clean place with personal attention paid to every little thing. They are extremely happy to take in your comments & make an all out effort to comply with.
Some may feel it is not near the lake but after spending the time all around is it not better to be in a quiet but happy and relaxing place.
It may not have the most Luxurious Rooms & washrooms but they are all very clean & well looked. I would rather be in this place then any other luxurious place. As I prefer the personal attention.
Food here has to be good as is cooked happily by the family. They are all so happy & entertaining everyone.
Kevin , the Bartender is equally entertaining & is happily serving till 2 am at time. He is always smiling.
The family is very much concerned about the guest's comforts. They all go out of their way to make it happen.
Even without being the most luxurious place it is most rich place around !!!
Kudos to Michele, Sabrina, Manuela and everyone !!!

This hotel is clean and has various different seating areas, both inside and outdoors. It has a pool and a child's pool adjacent to the outdoor seating area. The hotel is in a reasonably quiet area about 20 minutes walk down into Riva Del Garda. Only one problem, it is uphill coming back. However there are bus stops on the main road and a bus station quite close by so ask the staff for details. There is a small supermarket immediately behind the hotel that is useful for snacks or any items you may have forgotten.
The staff are all very pleasant and helpful. The food is excellent. 4 course meals were the order of the evening. They also made birthdays great fun with sparklers in birthday cakes brought to the table. We had one night of entertainment, a guy with a keyboard who was really quite good and had a varied repertoire. The Jewel in the crown was an unexpected treat to be invited down to the basement to see a wonderful collection of old bikes and war memorabilia in a small museum created by the husband of one of the owners.
The bedrooms were not large and the bathrooms very small with a two foot square shower that was a tight squeeze. Most of bathrooms our coach party used had a high step to get in and out of the bathroom that I found quite disconcerting.
I worried about lack of security at reception as pigeon holes sometimes held passports and room keys but they were easily accessible to anyone passing. Each room had a safe but we just locked things in our large wardrobe that had its own key.
I was impressed that some of the staff came out to wave us off,a nice friendly gesture. Thank you.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front are shady and cool,,garden spot lights outside shine in on a night and can be...

We stayed at this little family run hotel recently. It was clean with friendly attentive staff who served good hot meals to a high standard. We found a few quirky things worth commenting on though,

BREAKFAST - Breakfast is laid out in two separate rooms separated by the bar which means you must get your own tea/coffee, toast and scrambled egg and then carry it through the bar to the dining room where the rest of the breakfast items are waiting on a self service table..It seemed odd not to have everything in the same dining room.
DINNER ( Served only at a fixed time) was based on a self service salad bar, plus a system of ordering your choice of 1st & 2nd courses the day before. The sweet course can't be chosen and was always a surprise. Oh and one last thing!, they say when in Rome do as the Romans do. We did accepted the lack of usual 'English style' vegetables with the hot meals (the alternatives were delicious) but the tinned peas were a bit of a disappointment and the lack of gravy served with the meat dishes was commented on by a number of fellow guests. In addition, the time between each course was a little slow considering that courses for each table had been ordered the previous day. This meant you were twiddling your thumbs whilst waiting for the next course to arrive.
ROOMS A little dated but adequate. Comfortable beds, a foreign channel TV and a nice sheltered high sided balcony to sit on. The single lift which serviced each floor was a bit slow and only carried two people with luggage which meant a long queue when a coach party arrived.
LOCATION - A 15 minute walk from the lakeside. There is a Co-op supermarket right behind the hotel and a Liddle store only five minutes walk away.

The above comments are meant as observations rather than criticism because despite its quirkiness, I would still recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a clean, friendly, budget hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room on the first floor to avoid waiting & queuing for the lift
