“the perfect place to stay on Lake Garda”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2010

Lake Garda was the 2nd stop on our honeymoon and I drop myself mad doing research for months on which town to stay in. I eventually decided on Riva as it was at the north of the lake with supposedly the best scenery. Nothing could have prepared me for just how amazing it would be though! Without a doubt, you cannot beat this place. I wanted a boutique style hotel with plush rooms and beautiful grounds and that is exactly what Hotel Parc flora is. It backs onto the lake which is breathtaking. I couldnt stop looking at the scenery. We went to Thailand a few years ago and this rivalled that! The hotel is 4* but I think should be 5* ... its very modern and beautiful. The rooms are very large and beautifully decorated. The staff are extremely helpful. For a fuss pot like me, fiding a gem like this is a god send. forget the south of the river - Riva and the Hotel Parc Flora is the place to go!

This hotel is truly superb for its star rating and price bracket, punching far above its weight and fully deserves all of the positive reviews found here. The few negative reviews are an absolute mystery to me.

The basics: The modest hotel front is set 50m back from the main road around the lake and about 200m from the lake itself, accessed via a private path from the garden/pool area behind the hotel. Inside, the hotel lobby and reception area is very clean and tidy with marble flooring and white walls creating a light and simple space.
Our room: A basic but clean and functional space on the second floor with a small balcony facing the road. No bath but a nice dual shower. While I’m sure there are more luxurious rooms in the hotel, we tend not to spend much time inside so this was fine for us. Crisp white robes are supplied as are fresh towels specifically for taking to the pool/lake.
Food & Drink: There is a small bar in the reception area and the kitchen could easily cater to a restaurant but these are clearly not business lines for the hotel which is good if you prefer to eat/drink away from the hotel and return to a quiet setting rather than having all the noise and nightlife on your doorstep. Drinks and sandwiches/snacks are served around the pool during the day and an excellent, comprehensive breakfast is available on the terrace each morning. My only and very minor criticism is about the egg boiling machine which I consistently failed to get the hang of – ditch the machine and make omelettes to order instead.
Staff: Very friendly, helpful, hard working and professional. All staff speak very good English and you can expect a cheery greeting from every one of them from the hotel management to the housekeeping staff. Special mention goes to the lady in charge of breakfast – an absolute star !
Facilities: The obvious things to mention are the pool and garden area which are truly superb. The pool and surround are clean and well maintained and the number of sunbeds is just right for the hotel size, even after the Germans have “reserved” most of them with their towels. There is also a fantastic spa underneath the hotel with every imaginable facility including sauna, “star chamber” steam room, ice fall, Jacuzzi, waterfall massage, foot spa and multi function showers – after using the sauna, find the button marked “breeze” and press it for a life changing experience !! There’s also a relaxation suite with ultra comfy day beds where you can enjoy some nibbles and a cup of herbal tea etc. The spa is free to guests but is booked via reception and numbers of concurrent users is limited ensuring that the experience is not spoilt by having to share it with too many other guests, on both occasions we used it, we had it to ourselves for the majority of the time. There was also a watersports and windsurf facility down by the lake which was attached to the hotel but we didn’t investigate it so I’m not sure what the deal was there.
Guest services: What really makes this hotel special is the number of little extras provided free to guests which many hotels would charge for including use of bicycles, a computer with internet access, secure car parking and storage for bicycles etc and a restaurant card which entitles guests to 10% discount at a range of local eateries including “Al Volt”, considered to be the best restaurant in Riva (see my review).

All in all, this has to be one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in – it does everything it’s supposed to perfectly. From what I observed, the excellent guest experience is the result of a very well run business, which applies equally to the superb ice cream parlour which operates independently at the front of the hotel – it even has water mist jets to cool down customers – very popular with the cyclists ! Flora also operates a catering supplies and services business to other hotels/cafes/gelateria which reinforces their professional credentials. This is my first visit to Riva but I’m convinced that no amount of money could buy a better hotel experience – Superb !

We stayed for 10 days in a 'superior' room situated on the side of the hotel, with a view of the mountains and the lake. This is a small, well managed hotel, stylish interior with a beautiful garden and pool. We did use the 'wellness' suite on one occasion and couldn't believe that such a small hotel had such a beautiful health spa.

The staff were extremely helpful, especially Mirrabella our waitress at breakfast, who seemed to speak every language fluently. I can't believe that anyone would complain about the breakfast, as the choice was very good and the standard very high. Every Tuesday and Friday night the hotel provide a complimentary buffet and glass of wine in the evening. This supposed to be a light supper, but there was a large choice and you could have as much as you liked.

The hotel is situated slightly back from the lakeside, with a private path down to the lake. It's about a 15 minute walk to the centre of Riva, along the lakeside path or the main road. Walking along the lake in the evening was lovely, with grassed areas, little beaches and beautiful flowers everywhere. There is proper path, with good access for pushchairs, wheelchairs, bikes etc.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It is very luxurious and yet informal and everyone is very friendly and helpful.

Also, there is an underground car-park and you can hire mountain bikes. The hotel even has its own Rolls Royce.

We stayed here after my husband had cycled across the alps for 8 days, so needed somewhere to relax. It was a lovely hotel with a great spa downstairs. Great access to the lake and nice places to eat around about. Great spread for breakfast, lovely pool. We stayn one of the expensives rooms for our first night overlooking the pool which was lovely. The rest of the time we spent in a lower class room, the room was a great size but over looked the ice cream palour out the front that was noisy and lots of lights. The decor was not great in comparison - but everything as very clean and lovely. The bed was typical hotel bed - two twins made to a double. They even had a lovely night where they put on drinks and food for free, it was lovely. The staff were really friendly
We had mixed weather sometimes hot and other times raining, could change overnight.

Stayed for 3 days in July and was very impressed within seconds of stepping into the hotel lobby. After a very quick check in we found our room on the first floor along the way the decor and style was enough to make us smile.Inside the room the same level of style was evident with a beautiful shower room with bidet and amazing shower. There was a large flat screen TV on the wall and adjustable A/C.We had a side view but like most places in Riva we still had a great view of the mountains.
Breakfast was a real treat with several fresh fruit juices and a fresh orange juicer! There was lots of fresh fruit and eggs and bacon. The pool area was great, very clean quality loungers and a very tranquil feel.I think we will be going back soon!!!!

We have just returned from an 11 night stay at this wonderful hotel. This is our second visit (we stayed for a week in May 2009). This is a "classy" italian hotel and is immaculate throughout. It is situated right next to the lake, about 15 mins walk from Riva town centre and has its own private path through its beautiful gardens down to the lakeside. We stayed in a room on the side on the second floor and we were told that all the rooms on this floor had been refurbished and the work was only completed in April. Our room was small, but very comfortable and refurbished to a high standard. The staff, from the Receptionists, to the cleaners, to the night porter are all friendly and helpful and Mirabella and her Fiance, Sorin, deserve a special mention. They work together in the Restaurant (which does breakfast only). As mentioned in other reviews, Mirabella is a "shining star"!!! She goes out of her way to help you and really can't do enough for you. She has a wonderful bubbly personality and just makes you smile!! The buffet breakfast is superb and has a wonderful selection to choose from. The hotel also has its own Gelataria/Bar/Snack Bar and the ice cream is wonderful!! They prepare the most marvellous HUGE "fruit sundaes" that have to be seen to be believed!!! If you want a calm, relaxing holiday where you are well looked after, then the Parc Flora is the place to be!!!

If you are staying near Riva and the weather is not too good then I can recommend phoning up the hotel and seeing if you can use the spa for a couple of hours. We did this twice when on holiday and the facilities are excellent and at only 15Euros for two hours very good value. The spa has a good mix of saunas / steam room and a small but very nice relaxation area. It was very clean and was not busy - I think the hotel tries to limit the number of people who use the facility at once. Well worth a visit.
