The large garden of the hotel appears even grander and mysterious at night with cubes of colored lights far off at the pool and hidden others illuminating the trees. Sit facing the lake and you have a beautiful view over the water into the bay of Saló and its glistening coastline.
The waiters were fast, competent and charming, and on such a warm night should not have been forced to wear neckties, dark shirts And vests, which made them sweat.
The burrata as a first course was delightful. Burrata is a thin skin of mozzarella filled with cream and cut pieces of mozzarella, and this plate was a burrata cut in half and garnished with salted anchovies, dried tomatoes and basil - rich and wonderfully creamy.
The shrimp cocktail with avocado was a bit too rich for my taste. The louie dressing on top of the avocado was just too much of a calorie bomb for me.
The grilled rabbit was rolled around a fresh herb marinade and grilled until the skin was crispy and salty, perfect for a hot night.
The first bottle of Lugano wine tasted like Sherry and had a dark, un-Lugano look. Although it did not cork, the waiter had no problem taking it back and serving us a different, local wine.
A perfect place for a quiet dinner for two, or four as we were.
