I am amazed at the amount of bad reviews this lovely hotel has had on this site. People saying you are watched at breakfast and you shouldn't stay there if you're English! None of this is true at all. No one watched my boyfriend and I when we had breakfast, and all the staff were friendly and polite.

We stayed for a week recently, and found it to be a very nice place indeed. Our room overlooked the road, but that didn't bother us as we had a balcony, and could also see the mountains and lake. The room was spacious, clean and tidy and welcoming, and the bathroom was great too, with a wonderfuly powerful shower in it.

The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were delicious. I would recommend the hotel as well for its location, as it backs onto a lovely area right by the lake with very good resturants (not expensive) all around. Would certanley go again. 10/10

Room Tip: To be honest, I don't think it really matters if you face the road- we did and it didn't bot...

After planning various stops throughout Slovenia and Italy, we were concerned that Best Western may be the weak link as we prefer the smaller, more intimate guest houses. However, we were pleasantly surprised with our room which was fairly large. It was obvious the hotel had been 'modernised' so it had a similar feel to a travelodge. The bathroom was slightly retro but perfectly clean.

The best bit.... what a spectacular view! We were very lucky to have one of the front facing rooms - no balcony, but you could open the doors wide to experience the vibrant atmosphere outside. Live entertainment took place but it didn't go on too late and we actually had a fantastic night's sleep as unlike most other places we had stayed in, there was constant air conditioning.

Room Tip: Ask for a front facing room!

My mother and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in July. We had a room overlooking the harbor/lake with a small balcony, which was very pleasant. The room was simple but clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and breakfast quite abundant. We also had a very nice dinner in their lovely restaurant with views of the lake. Perfect location to explore the old part of town and watch people walking. Easy parking in private lot behind the hotel. Bikes for rent, and free wi-fi.

Room Tip: Ask for lake view room.

The hotel is in a perfect location, right in the main square at Riva overlooking the harbour, rooms are an excellent size, immaculately clean and well furnished.
The hotel 'pool' is more of an adult paddling pool but is located on a nice roof terrace which overlooks Riva. Walls are extremely thin, you can hear the conversations from adjoining rooms,
Buffet style breakfast is served until 1030 but the staff do not replenish the food so if you arrive after 9.30 your choice is extremely limited.
That being said nothing can detract away from the fantastic location, room size, cleanliness and friendly staff, we would definitely stay here again for those points alone.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the harbour.

I stayed here in June 2011 with my girlfriend and I think this hotel was almost perfect. The location is ideal as it is situated right beside the lake and less than a one minute walk from the streets where all the shops and restaurants are contained.

The rooms are small but they are very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant looks out onto the lake and is really nice although we only ate there for breakfast. Breakfast is a continental style buffet with all the usuals such as croissants, breads, cereals, cakes, tea/coffee, juices.

The swimming pool is located on the roof and is actually tiny. It's more like a big bath. There are about 15-20 deck chairs for sunbathing.

My only real gripe was that there is no gym in the hotel. To be honest, if I had of realised this beforehand I wouldn't have stayed here but despite that I am delighted to have stayed at this hotel.

In summary, the location is fantastic and the hotel is nice. I would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony and you will have a beautiful view of Lake Garda.

Our room and bathroom were big enough for a short stay, clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. There's free parking but the small parking ground right at the hotel is probably most of the time occupied. There's a car park very close by but it's 12 Euros/day :-(

Breakfast is good with many choices. You can have breakfast on the paned patio overviewing the harbour - lovely! There's a small swimming pool on the roof terrace which we didn't use though.

Best thing about our stay at the hotel was the cute little balcony overviewing the harbour! We could sit there in the evenings and watch the (moderate) 'hustle and bustle' around the harbour. There are Cafes, Restaurants directly at the hotel so if you're looking for absolute peace and quiet it's probably not the right choice. But, it was never too noisy (there's no danceclubs or such) and we rather found it interesting.

All in all, we had a nice stay, the hotel is OK but for us it was special for it's location and most of all, our little balcony!

In late May 2011 we stayed at the Hotel Europa on Lake Garda as part of a Riviera Travel booking. On arrival we found the staff most courteous and helpful which continued throughout our week’s stay. Our room was located overlooking the lake, harbour and piazza and we found the extra cost (for the view) well worth it.
Our room was comfortable and a good standard, plenty of wardrobe space and a safe inside, which cost 1 euro per day if you wanted to make use of it (there’s a 10 euro deposit per week). The bathroom had a bathtub as well as shower (over the bath) and was kept spotless each day by the cleaning staff. Everything worked well and there were the usual complimentary toiletries provided.
Breakfast was informal where guests could choose where to sit and weren’t restricted to set tables like some hotels. A few mornings we ate in the first-floor conservatory adjoining the restaurant overlooking the piazza and lake, which was a lovely way to start the day. Breakfast was typical continental, with hams, cheese, yoghurts, croissants, cake, rolls, cereal and toast. Also available at no extra charge were fresh eggs which you could boil to your liking. When we stayed, the staff were very good at quickly replenishing the breakfast food items. There was no stern lady watching every move either (see some previous reviews!)
In the last few weeks the hotel has started to serve evening meals but as we ate out every evening we can’t comment on the quality of the hotel meals.
Would we stay here again? Most definitely – the hotel is perfectly situated for easy access to the town of Riva and regular ferry crossings to Malcesine and Limone.
