“A Tuscan Delight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2011

Located in the hills of Tuscanny, this hotel was a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Venice and Florence. We strolled through the vinyards and olive orchards enjoying the time immensely. The hotel staff really went out of their way to make us feel welcome and enjoy our stay. On our first night the chef gave a Tuscan cooking demonstration of several Tuscan dishes. Later that night we were served a Tuscan feast in the garden, enjoying the local wines and beautiful evening. The second night also included a Tuscan feast under the stars, finishing up the evening dancing to music of a local Italian duet.

We were fortunate to get a room in the newer apartment section of the property. There was plenty of hot water and air conditioning. The pool was very refreshing after two very warm days of touring. The chef was the biggest draw for me - the food was excellent! I wish this place would publish their own cookbook - I would purchase several copies to give as gifts.

A very nice stone building situated in a vineyard, farm cultivated with various trees. The place was quiet, ideal position, near Florence and whithin an1 hour distance from Sienna, Pisa, San Giminiano etc.. The rooms were clean, with nice view to the swimming pool and the garden was marvelous. Typical Toscane landscape.

Stayed here for two nights, as part of a larger tour group. My room was quite large with a nicely furnished bathroom. The room had an air-conditioner. There was a locked door connecting my room with an adjoining room, so there was occasionally some noise from the next room. My room was in the main building and there are also several outer buildings with rooms also. There is a very nice backyard and garden, with a nice pool and a childrens play area.
The bar and dining room were very nice and the food and drinks were excellent!

Location delightful, tho hard to find (get the hotel to email you driving directions in advance). Staff reception very pleasant and accommodating. But attention to details and maintenance leaves something to be desired. Room assigned to us was almost moist, certainly musty, and felt like it had not been occupied for awhile. Had to prop room door open with a chair and open a window across the hallway to air it out. Sheets clean, but window sills covered with dead bugs. No luggage racks on which to place suitcases to open and unpack them---so you have to leave them on the floor. Maid's mops/brooms left in a corner behind the door. No wash cloths in bathroom. Classic old-fashioned Italian-style shower stall that allows the water to run out onto the bathroom floor. Restaurant: main dishes ordered by one of us delicious, the other (beef carparccio) too tough to eat (because of its remote location, you have no choice but to eat at the hotel). Out back, a wonderful clean swimming pool. But, in sum, barely a three-star.

We stayed at Villa il Crocicchio as part of our tour. We loved this place and hope to come back. It was beautiful, relaxing, quiet, a perfect break from the busy tour schedule. The staff was friendly and very helpful. They make their own wine and olive oil, so good.

Sonya and Simona are fabulous hostesses, the villa is a peaceful, beautiful place surrounded by grapes and olives orchards. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The food at their restaurant is really good, my stay there was a part of a small tour group and we were served family style. The villa has free wifi access, a nice breakfast room, restaurant area, pool, and bar. It was a perfect location to escape the busy pace of Florence, but still close enough to Florence that you can enjoy the sights. This is one place that I would love to go back again.
