“beautiful place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

Very nice house with stunning views of the surrounding steep hills and sea, up to Ravello and down to Minori. The house is roughly halfway between the two, accessible by beautifully rustic stairs and steps (about 20 minutes to Ravello, 25 minutes to Minori, with consistently attractive views along the way). We enjoyed getting our exercise walking down to the beaches at Castiglione, Atrani and Minori, and up to the central piazza of Ravello where we could sit at one of three pleasant cafes, reading and watching the world go by. The pool and the terrace at the house are excellent, surrounded by lemon groves. Aubergines, tomatoes, figs, basil (and other vegetables and herbs - I can't remember them all!) also grow in the gardens and we cooked with them as well as making our own lemonade from the seemingly infinite supply of lemons!

I've stayed here four times over the last five years and the reason I keep returning is for the great hospitality offered by the Civale family, the wonderful location and private swimming pool. I very surprised to see people have anything negative to say about the place. Yes, there is steps but 30 seconds of research prior to a stay would tell you this. We love it here and thoroughly enjoyed our most recent stay at the end of august 2011. If you appreciate peace and quiet and simple pleasures, you will love it here.

It is a splendid location with view on the sea downhill and on the picturesque Ravello town center uphill. We have rarely seen such a wonderful panorama out of a swimming pool.
The accomodation is nice and spacious and very well kept. The landlady was so kind to us and fequently spoiled us with products of the wonderful garden.
We also enjoyed the Ravello Festival with its concerts in wonderful surroundings.
Speaking of steps: in Ravello everything is about fabulous views - especially this tremendous view from the park of villa Cimbrone - and you will miss the very best if you are afraid of steps. Of course from the Villa en Rose there is a little more way to the town centre - on the other hand you will get in a reasonable time on foot to the shores of Minori and Atrani, even Amalfi, were parking spaces are first quite expensive ant then very difficult to get. And my wife and I are both fifty plus and we have never been sport cracks, but the steps were rather a good exercise for us than a real strain.

A secret tip. Long ago Odysseus sailed along Amalfi’s divine coast. This spectacular coastline in the Bay of Salerno is one of the leading attractions in southern Italy. Anyone looking for breathtaking panoramas can do no better than to stay at Villa en Rose in Marmorata, located on the mule path below the romantic mountain village of Ravello. The comfortable house owned by the Civale family is surrounded by orchards with lemon and fig trees. From the sunny garden, with a splendid terrace and swimming pool, you have an enchanting view of the coast. I come back here with my sister every year, drawn by the hospitality of the inhabitants and the wonderful mountain walks in the vicinity. We eat meals prepared with local produce. And, we delight in the glorious sunrise behind the mountains and magical dusk with bells ringing in the distance. Ravello is known for the Villa Rufolo where Wagner composed Tristan and Isolde. Villa Cimbrone’s garden with its Mediterranean plants and trees is the perfect setting for a lover’s tryst. Villa en Rose is a veritable paradise where all of the pleasures essential to a good vacation effortlessly come together.

This is a lovely apartment set within a lemon tree garden. Clean and very well equipped with kitchen utilities, washing machine etc. The view from the balcony is amazing and the pool is lovely and quiet (we didn't see anyone else there for the duration of our stay). I would have no hesitation in recommending this place as the hostess and her family go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one.

However I must warn that it is not located in Ravello, but rather in Torello, which is a fifteen minute climb up to your car and then either a drive to Ravello (where parking ranges between 3 and 5 euro an hour) or a further twenty minutes of steps. I found this very difficult!

I would advise anyone staying here to take an overnight bag down to the apartment as lugging a suitcase or rucksack up and down those steps is challenging to say the least!
