“Beautiful view with comfortable rooms.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

A bit of a trek to get to The Giordano and nearly need a local guide. Our taxi left us at the car park, which is a10-15 walk from the hotel. You can organise a service to take your bags or drag them yourself. We were lucky that ours were collected for us. The trek is picturesque, through the beautiful alleys, passing shops and even a lemon cello factory.
Our greeting at the hotel was cordial but certainly not warm.
Our rooms were very comfortable (bed a little hard). Plenty of space a and a balcony overlooking the valley down to the sea. A superb view. Rooms were also very quiet.
We ate at the hotels restaurant and the food was delightful, as was the breakfast.

Room Tip: Rooms with a view over the valley are preferable.

The Giordano has a fantastic location just a short walk from the very pretty and atmospheric main square in Ravello. If you have a hire car the hotel will meet you in the square and drive your car through the very narrow lanes to their shaded car park, best to leave it there during your stay and use the local bus service to Amalfi and ferries beyond to eg Positano which is well worth a visit.
We had a superior room with a lovely terrace and fine mountain views, this side of the hotel also benefitted from the sun. The room was fine with an adequate shower room.
Breakfast was very ordinary and served outdoors, which in September can be cool and windy. Disappointingly we arranged for an early breakfast as we were on a tour to Pompeii, despite us reminding reception, on arrival the staff in the breakfast room denied any knowledge, they did come up with a pot of tea and a few biscuits.
The reception staff were generally unhelpful and often hiding in the back office. The car parking guys were the exception to this.
We were on half board so ate dinner at the Villa Maria. The food was good but not exceptional and again eating outdoors in September half way up a mountain is not always a good idea. It takes about 5 mins walking uphill between the hotels and is not suitable for older guests.
Overall Ravello is a fantastic base to explore the coast and Pompeii and the town itself is charming and not too busy, at least compared with Amalfi and Positano! The Giordano could be so much better with closer attention to customer satisfaction.

Room Tip: Superior rooms with terrace have a great view and lots of sunshine. We were no 26.

It is such a surprise for us to read about this review and we are more than happy to clarify all the points.
The early breakfast is a service that we arrange to all clients, without problem, on request - and, as a proof, the readers can have a look at the review posted on October 2nd entitled "wonderful holiday at the giordano" which was typed also BEFORE this review. The October 2nd's review says completely the opposite " great kindness of the staff at the reception, waiters and parking and there was nothing more they could have expected and they also appreciated the delicious early breakfast arranged for them before our usual scheduled times. As regards the staff of the reception, it is not their habit to hide at the back office. September is a busy period because of the concerts, the high occupancy connected with the weddings and, it is common that clients ask for information and copies reporting the useful information for the walking, bus schedules, etc. Our fax machine, copy machine is situated at the back office and it could have happened that the receptionist was busy at the back office making her/his work ready for the clients. However, we are pleased the clients liked Ravello and we hope we will have the occasion to host them again at our hotel and make them change the wrong idea they got.

Our room was very comfortable and our terrace, with its stunning mountain views, made it perfect. Breakfast was excellent with so much to choose from there was nothing else we could have wanted. Even when we had to leave the hotel at 7.30 a,m. for a trip a delicious breakfast was brought to our room before we left. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All of them - receptionists, waitresses & waiters, and chambermaids - provided the highest standard of service.
Every question was answered, everything we asked for was provided, and always with a smile! We hope to stay again very soon.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a mountain view.

I have been staying at Hotel Giordano for the past 8 nights and the hotel, staff and entire experience has exceeded my expectations at every turn. The hotel is beautiful and maintained to a top notch caliber with a staff that clearly loves what they do! No matter what the request or need I had they provide service with a smile and never forget who you are. It really is impressive how they know exactly what my needs are. I have strict eating requirements and at breakfast every morning the staff knew immediately and where sure to accommodate. The pool area and bar are super in every way and to enjoy lunch poolside a real treat. The location is super and ideally located! A MUST VISIT and very special place.

Room Tip: Each room is unique and the hotel can offer you one based on your personal needs. Most have balcony...

The hotel is ideally located near to the main town square and is surrounded by pleasant gardens and varied views depending on your room allocation. A lift is available to all floors and the pool/bar/dining area. If using the swimming pool there are a number of sunbeds and towels are provided by a member of staff at poolside

Adapted from an old historic building. The hotel offers a variety of rooms all with 'Rustic Furnishings'. We had booked 2 x standard rooms (only rooms available as this was a late booking) and we were allocated rooms overlooking the large swimming pool. Each room was compact with large balconies and decent size bathrooms containing a compact shower cubicle. Other rooms within the same category have larger inside space and a compact balcony. I preferred the outside space and view.

Breakfast served in the downstairs restaurant with an option to sit outside opposite the pool in pleasant gardens or as we had to one day as it was raining inside the restaurant. Breakfast is self service, other than hot drinks, which will be served at seat by very attentive staff . Ines, one of the waitresses, after having breakfast only once previously remembered my wife drank tea and made a pot of tea for her on day two without our having to order.

In my view people make the experience and Giordano's hotel team are attentive and reacted quickly to any requests adding value to a great stay at this lovely town. We look forward to returning next year for our daughter's wedding.

Room Tip: Rooms vary in shape and size. If you are not happy with your allocation ask the reception staff to v...

The whole hotel has clearly been refurbished recently to a very high standard. Lots of colourful marble. We had one of the more expensive rooms (rack rate 240 euro) and it was very nice. Very large bathroom with bath and jacuzzi and separate shower. Nice balcony overloooking the pool. Breakfast was good and you could eat outside by the pool. Hard to find anything that wasn't 100%...the only thing is that the free wifi is only available in the lobby and not in rooms.

Brilliant location. Stayed here whilst attending our daughters wedding - it was just round the corner. Like someone else said - excellent breakfast around the pool, staff were really helpful in all areas - and would get you anything - always with a smile! There were no faults! My daughters air con had a fault - next minute she was moved to another room! Some of our party stayed up in Scala - but had to pay for taxis every time they wanted to come to Ravello - this added up as the week went by - Personally I would advise anyone to come to this hotel - especially if it is to attend a wedding!

Room Tip: We were happy with our room - not as large as our daughters on the other side - but we had a great v...
