“We love it - it's our first stop every time we travel to Sicily!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2011

The hotel is very pretty - with simple, minimalist decor - very pleasing to the eye - and relaxing for the soul!
It's situated in a very quiet area with a beautiful pool which is overlooked by most of the rooms and a lovely lawn and gardens.
The piece de la resistance though is their restaurant which is ABSOLUTELY superb. I'm not a big eater - but whenever I'm there, I just can't resist the food. It's not only the best food I've ever eaten, but the way it's presented is an art in itself - complete with a great selection of wines - which the somelier will be only to happy to recommend - and flavoured oils to compliment each plate.
Their degustacion (which is an eight course meal) of meat or fish is simply irresistable!
Definately 5*

Beautiful hotel in an old building (farmhouse) that was nicely transformed into an hotel with a nice mix of old construction and modern design. Bedrooms are large and nicely furnished. Price is reasonable and breakfast is very nice.

Quite difficult to locate on the GPS though as the city of raguse has two Gandhi streets!

on the minus side, the beautiful swimming pool is not properly maintained and you sometimes swim among dead bodies of vairious insects which is really not acceptable. My childrens who usually cannot be dragged out the swimming pool were reluctant to get in the water...
No free wifi access and even the business center requires a login. Food at the restaurant is good but too expensive and the choice for lunch is quite limited.

Made a last minute change to this hotel rather than staying in Ragusa and glad we did. What a gem this hotel is with extensive grounds and with ample parking. The staff are fantastic ever so helpful, we arrived late and they gave us some bottles of ice cold water for the room. Breakfasts are fab jst loved it with so much choice and perfectly cooked omelettes with a choice of fillings. The Italian lady serving us was lovely and made a real fuss of all the kids at breakfast. This is a great location for getting to Marina di Ragusa or off to Modica. Also when we arrived from Catania late at night we were wondering how we would find a hotel on the outskirts of town but there were loads of signs to V.Carlotta in a country where signs are rubbish this was such a benefit. The room was fine overlooking the gardens and pool with French doors so you can just hop out for a swim. My only complaint was that the beds are very hard. We were there for a wedding and the staff organised our taxi for us and spent ages looking up the web site etc. In our 4 night stay we had lunch and dinner here and both were superb, the wine the waiter chose for us was out of this world and the olive oil on the table was the most delicious I've ever tasted, even their home made bread is nice not the norm in Italy. All in all fantastic hotel with gorgeous pool to lounge by and fab food and the room rate was a bargain. The design has merged modern with the old and you could see that everything was top aulity the refurb must have cost a fortune. Go you wont be disappointed.

Room Tip: we had a ground floor room so you can just walk out to the pool

A Michelin 1-star restaurant on the premises says it all-- not the poshest, but definitely a pleasure. Dinner at the restaurant is as expected-- exquisite-- but breakfast (complimentary for hotel guests) was an unanticipated bonus, with pefectly ripe fruit, omelets to order (in Italy!), home-made marmalades, and really flaky pastries. Combine the cuisine with a top-flight architectural experience-- clean, modern lines, barcelona chairs in the lobby, wide lawns set on an expansive estate, large pool enhanced with attractive landscaping-- made our stay a sensory pleasure. Location was on the edge of town-- not within walking distance of the many tourist sights for which Ragusa is noted-- but is suitable as a base for day trips to Noto, Modica, and other nearby cities that are well worth a visit. A good beach is also within a short driving distance. Staff was helpful, responsive, and courteous. Parking was ample. Area restaurants offer excellent fish and local Scilian dishes, and the pasticcerias (pastry shops) are to die for. Hotel was clean. Room (medium-sized) was well laid out and enhanced with a spray of orchids behind the headboard of the bed-- a nice touch. Finally, the price of the room was unexpectedly low given what we got. No negative comments.

We were looking for relaxation, good food and friendly atmosphere and weren't disappointed. The swimming pool was great, as this hotel has only a handfull of rooms/suites the pool wasn't crowded, the area was decked with sofas and it was heaven just lying there with a good book and a drink with the cristalline pool on hand for refreshing dips. The food at the restaurant is sublime, quality of ingredients was excellent and dishes were well executed. The menu changed daily and it was a highlight of our stay. The hotel location is far from town and you will definetely need a car but you really don't need to be in town as the area of Ragusa has so many great little towns to explore like Ragusa Ibla, Siracusa, etc.. we stayed at the hotel during the day and were out by night. I strongly recommend the Villa Carlotta as it offers great value for money, there aren't many places where you can have dinner at a Michelin rated restaurant for 35 Euros! we had a suite and it was certainly spacious, set over 2 levels (our 2 daughters shared our room) we each had our own room. Staff was very attentive and accommodated us in every way. I will definetely go back in a few years time.

The hotel itself is very modern and clean.
The hotel is situated in the industrial part of Ragusa; so the direct neighborhood is not very attractive.
The staff is friendly, but is not fluent enough in English.

One very important advice however. Avoid the restaurant.
We had the special fish menu and were sick all night.
We were also the only customers that night and the staff started cleaning up the place while we were still eating.
Not what you expect in a stylish restaurant taking a menu of 50 euro/person.
