“A glimpse of Yester Year”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

The 'Yester Year' we refer to is where courtesy and consideration were tantamount, when owners and staff in hotels were charming, friendly and enthusiastic; where thought and care had been taken over apartments, grounds, swimming pools and every aspect of holiday accommodation that might make a guest feel special. All this we found at Nora Club Hotel. We left with regret.

We went to Nora Club Hotel to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We had a lovely room with a terrace (I think this was an upgrade).

The two highlights of the hotel are the staff and the gardens with pool. All the staff were friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome. Francesco had previously worked in England and spoke excellent English. He was always cheerful and was a great source of help and advice for example, for places to visit, or where to eat - he even booked restaurants on our behalf. The other person we must mention is Valentina who served us most days at breakfast - she was so lovely to us and made us feel very welcome.

The hotel gardens which surround the pool are delightful and they go to a lot of trouble to keep them looking good. It was a perfect way to relax - going for a swim, sitting on a sun lounger surrounded by greenery.

The rooms were quite basic but perfectly adequate and kept immaculately clean as was the rest of the hotel. We did have a problem with the air conditioning which was an essential to us as we are not used to the heat - they did respond quickly to try and get it sorted out.
Kettles and tea making facilities are provided but don't seem to be put out in every room - we do think that it would be a good idea if this was done as a matter of course.

We thought the breakfast was very good. We had ham or salami and eggs offered each day. There was fruit such as lovely fresh melon. There was a warm cabinet full of croissants and other pastries. There was also boxes of cereals, yoghurt offered, biscuits, cheese, bread and wonderful coffee. Certainly plenty to choose from.

There is a wide choice of restaurants, some of them fantastic, reasonably close by. Walking into Pula takes about 15 - 20 minutes or a couple of minutes by car. A car is essential if you want to visit some of the other beaches. Other beaches such as Cala Cipolla are really worth a visit and we regretted not heading out that way sooner.

The archaeological site at Nora is definitely worth a visit and you are taken around by a tour guide. We also did a trip into Cagliari and took an open top bus tour - again worth doing.

We would recommend going to Nora Club Hotel if you want a very relaxing and friendly place to go.

Nice hotel with lovely pool in tranquil gardens which all of the rooms look out on to. Rather pricey for what it is but i guess you're paying for having a small spa on site which we didn't use as this was rather expensive too. They really need to discount this substantially for guests to encourage use of it. We didn't see anyone in it while we were there. Surely it's better that it provides some income rather than nothing?

We were allocated a standard room, no. 53 on arrival. The room was very dark and smelt damp because all the light was obliterated by a very large palm tree in front of the window. This really needs cutting down. The owner said they were full so they couldn't change our room. When Francesco came on duty, he was much more helpful & obliging & managed to move us to a better room. The rooms were of a good size and clean. For the price they charge, they really should offer tea & coffee making facilities in the room and I'd expect better fixtures & fittings in the bathroom which were very cheap and rather dated as were the electricals in the bedroom.

We reported on day 1 that our safe didn't work but they weren't able to fix it During our stay so we had to take our ipad & SLR camera everywhere with us. The fridge broke on day 2 as did the TV. They managed to get the TV working but not the fridge. No reduction in price was offered when we left, just a drink on the house!

Francesco was very helpful as he spoke good English and recommended a couple of restaurants & nice beaches.

Breakfast was OK, you just have to ask for hot food rather than it being available on the buffet. The breakfast coffee was the best we had in Sardinia.

We had spent the previous 3 days at the Mariposas Hotel in Villasimius which is a family run hotel, cheaper but of a much higher quality all round and brilliant staff.

We throughly enjoyed Sardinia which is a wonderful island and stunning beaches. You really must have a car to appreciate all the wonderful beaches and countryside otherwise you'd miss out on so much. We'd also suggest that you stay at a couple of different areas on the island to really get the best out of your trip.

If southern Sardinian is your holiday choice, then you'll be fully aware of the slower pace, the quieter surroundings and the nicer beaches of it's northern shores. Taking this into consideration, you couldn't do any better than the Nora Club Hotel. The surrounding gardens with all the rooms nicely set around a lovely pool make this a perfect haven for kicking back and relaxing with a good book or two. If this wasn't enough the staff are a perfect additive to a great hotel. Francesco and Baggio were both attentive and welcoming, assisting us with restaurant bookings and other suggestions for nearby attractions - our car battery died one afternoon and by the morning a set of jump leads and a maintenance man were with us to save the day; nothing seemed too much bother. The hotel is situated between Nora beach (a pleasant beach enjoyed by locals) and the small town of Pula (possessing enough restaurants and bars to eat and drink at a different one each night) both of which are about a 15 minute walk. Pula is a nice town, can be lively at weekends but if you're in southern Sardinia the main pull are the beautiful beaches which you do need a car to enjoy.

We're always reluctant to revisit holiday destinations, however, were we to go back to any of our previous haunts, Nora Club Hotel would be top of the list. Highly, highly recommended.

Great hotel staff, swimming pool and rooms are very nice, area a bit quiet, a very small little village within walking distance with restaurants a few shops not great, if it's just a chilling out u want it's ideal. If you like to explore places on foot it's not for you.

To be true we were doubtful whether we have made the right choice booking Nora Club first on CharmingSardinia.com The reasons for the doubts were quite few including not far the best location, unfavorable comments on breakfast on Tripadvisor and in general our intention to go somewhere to the North Western part of the island. So we cancelled our first booking and several days later booked Nora Club again via booking.com.
Now having returned home from nine days staying at the hotel we can definitely say- we did enjoy our holidays!
Buried in vendure this small hotel is simply an ideal place for those looking for quiet relaxation out of the noise and bustle.Even the cars passing along nearby road did not disturb the peace of the premises. Regarding the location. Not great as the beach(lovely indeed) is 10-15minute walk but very convenient especially for those without a car(like in our case). Centre of Pula is even closer than the beach with one of its top restaurant pizzeria Da Giancarlo just several hundred meters from the hotel. By the way another restaurant worthwhile to be visited(Blue Moon) is also not far away.
Swimming pool is rather spacious and is only a few steps from your room. You are allowed to swim at any time you wish (midnight bathiings were a hit with us).
All the hotel staff were were kind and helpful trying to make their best to please the guests.
Valentina, Baggio and others are wonderful people but Francesco is undoubtfully the first violin in this small orchestra conducted by Signora Cappellari-the owener of Nora Club. And I think his perfect English(noted by many guests)is not the main merit of this person who is always ready to give an advice of where to visit and where to dine or just find a few minutes to chatter.
This is really the right man in the right place and it's a pity he is going to leave...
Breakfast. Probably not rich and all the more outstanding. However offers plenty of choice(bread, cereals, pastries, cheases, fresh fruits, yogurt, free scrambled eggs and ham made at request etc.) One remark. Packed cheases and juice is in our opinion an omission which has to be corrected at the hotel having the first rating among 27 hotels in Pula.
Hope it will be noted in future.
Having a car is preferable but lacking it is not at all crucial.
We would RECOMMEND WITHOUT DOUBTS!!!

Room Tip: May be first floor is worthwhile to be paying extra but the individual terraces on the ground floor...

A lovely hotel on the outskirts of Pula. We came here via Sardinian Places, and I must say it is a wonderful hotel. If you are looking for a activity hotel with things to do being organized during the day, then this place is not for you. But if you are looking for a place to relax and unwind and generally let the batteries recharge then this is the perfect hotel for that. We spent a fortnight here and the welcome was fantastic and nothing was too much bother for the really kind and helpful staff. The pool was nice just to lie around and pop in for a cooling dip. There were families here as well as couples, younger and older.

If you are staying here, take full advantage of Francesco. We used him as our tour guide. His English is very good as he has worked in the UK in the past. Ask him for places to go and to eat. He will book these places for you as well. This became very useful the second week we were there as a lot of the restaurants in town become full as the school holidays were starting. A highlight of the stay for us was a boat trip on a fishing boat where the fish were first caught and then fed to us for lunch. If it wasn't for the hotel recommendation we would not have found this, so make full use of it!

Breakfast was fine, a selection of cereals, fruit and cooked. Sunday morning on both weeks was slow, I gather everyone comes to breakfast at the last minute! Incidentally, breakfast is served until 10.30am, very handy!

They were building a spa when we were there which was just about to open the end of July. We did have a tour round, it did look very nice, shame it wasn't open earlier!

The only puzzle we had about this place was how to get out of it! Strictly speaking, the hotel is on a one way road, but right at the start of it. So if you wanted to turn left out of the hotel, you had to cross over, hoping no one was coming up the road. I'm not sure this is the proper way of doing it, maybe we should have asked!

So, to conclude, a wonderful, clean, tidy hotel in a nice quiet part of Pula, but still close enough to walk into town.
