There are a number of eateries around the Piazza Mercatale - probably around a dozen or so. We found colleagues sitting at the Malaparte having already ordered so we joined them. Service was friendly and quick. The cover charge was €2 per person which paid for an excellent selection of various breads. My Caprese salad, soft mozzarella and fresh tomatoes with basil, was €6 and a large, refreshing beer was €5 - the same as my colleague's glass of white wine. Large, thin-crust pizzas were €8 - and were well-cooked and tasty. Other places seemed to be busier but I can't really fault the Malaparte - good value food, served quickly in a pleasant outdoor location. This quality of restaurant is typical of Italian cities but would be deemed above average in say, the US.
