Dear traveller,

I have been recommended to visit the Continental by friends in 1984 and visited the first time in
1985.
my only concern was I did not allow enough days to stay at this charming peacefull oasis.
I have extended my stay and I am visiting since for more than twenty years and so are many hundreds of people from Canada ,who I recommended and they in return recommended others
and so on.
If you are looking for a quiet acccomodation with breathtaking views, romantic beaches, excellent food and wine and friendly people to serve you and take care of your travelling needs, the Continental is a perfect spot away from bussy and noizy places, one tries to avoid on a holiday.
all rooms and terraces, even the camping - face the sea, away from the road and noise.
I have witnessed scenes, where campers returned a day or two after their departure, saying they have not seen such a beautifful camping in their lives,- overlooking the mediterranian sea.

but the best, find out yourself, I am sure you will share my feelings. (only with your best friends.)

My wife and I stayed in La Terrazza, a 2 bedroom apartment which is part of the Hotel Continental. We were there for 2 weeks this Oct/Nov 2005 and had a fantastic experience. The apartment enjoys spectacular views from the sea side of the road. The Hotel is a family affair (3 brothers). Antonio and his brothers could not have been more friendly and welcoming and it is spotlessly clean. Friends of ours were also there for a week in October and enjoyed their stay as much as we enjoyed ours. There a many great restaurants in the area and if you are looking for an authentic italian experience, then this is the place for you. When we did not eat out on magnificant traditional seafood dishes we were able to buy beautiful fresh vegetables etc from the local Alimentari and cook for ourselves. We simply cannot understand how you could not enjoy a stay with the family at the Hotel Continental on the magnificent Amalfi coast. We most certainly will be back.

Me and my girlfriend were travelling in Italy for 2 weeks last summer, and our stay in Praiano was without a doubt the best part of the vacation.

After spending the first week in Sicily, our plan was to find a good place at the amalfi coast for the last week. We stayed one night in Sorrento, but did not like that place at all. It was filled with wealthy charter tourists, was far too expensive, and had nothing special about it. We therefore jumped on a bus to amalfi, and decided to get of if we saw a nice place on the way.

And we soon found out that the problem was not to find a nice place but that there was too many nice places along the ride. So we just had to pick one, and coincedentely we jumped of at the Continental & La Tranquillita Hotel.

We got a big room with a splendid view for about 85 euros. We also got a balcony with the size of a small tennis court. The owner was a character, but we liked him very much. The rest of the staff was also nice. The surroundings of the hotel was marvellous, and the walk down too the water was very nice, (but not for people with weak knees). I also have too mention that there is a very good and cheap fish restaurant nearby (dont remember the name) and that there is a very special discoteque inside a cave down with the water.

I will give Praiano and Continental & La Tranquillita Hotel 5 out of 6 stars.
We will definetely return to this place sometime!!!!!!!!

- Rooms were a series of outhouses (ie. they were not located within a building)
- VERY rustic.. if you consider lizards, mosquitoes, and worms in your room to be rustic
- Outdoor passages leading up to the rooms were filled with moss and had patches of standing water that were a breeeding ground for mosquitoes; these passages were quite slippery whenever it rained.
- Water in the showers was luke-warm at the best of times, cold at the worst
- Owner was very rude, but his brothers tried to compensate for this by being friendly
- Poor value for the price, but you may enjoy it if you like camping-style accommodations
