“The most friendly place I've ever stayed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

I can't say enough about this fantastic hotel perched on the top of a cliff on the Amalfi Coast.
Don't forget to take a boat trip so you can see it from the water. A little costly but very worth it.
The hotel is clean, the food is amazing, especially the caprese salad! wow!
I have traveled all over the world and I have never been so welcomed by every staff member at a hotel.
The beds were a little small for me but that's what you get when you're over 6'
It is right in the middle of all of the action and you will never forget it.

We happened to book a table for dinner at this hotel whilst staying in Ravello and from the moment we stepped foot inside we fell in love. So much so that we called them in a panic having booked another hotel in Positano after Ravello, which turned out to be not at all suitable and enquired whether Tramonto D'oro had any last minute vacancies, they were more than helpful and accommodated us within a few minutes of the phone call.

We instantly felt welcomed - having spoken to three generations of the family whilst staying there, you could see how much love and pride went in to the running of this hotel.

Bright, clean, beautifully decorated, sensational views and five star service - I can not fault this place even if I tried.

Praiano's best kept secret - do not think twice about booking to stay here - we cannot wait for our return!

Absolutely beautiful. We had arrived in Praiano to go to an apartment which turned out not to be suitable for seniors nor people with any type of leg disability. We went to lunch at the hotel and asked if there were any vacancies - there were and we were fortunate to be able to stay there for 6 nights. We were so impressed with the service and care given to us that we cancelled our 2 night stay in Naples. The staff and owners of the hotel treated us like family. The views from the restaurant were magnificent as were the sunsets. The room was large and comfortable. Thank you Tramonto D'Oro for making our final week in Italy so special.

We had our wedding at Tramonto d’oro on 20th June 2013 and had the most fantastic day. The hotel is beautiful. It couldn't be in a more perfect location. We had 90 guests travel from Scotland/England/other parts of Italy to come to our wedding and everyone was delighted that we chose this hotel. Everyone was stunned by the amazing views and great location. The stunning church of San Gennaro is only a one-minute walk from the hotel so we didn’t need to provide transport for our guests. We had our drinks reception on the terrace of the hotel and the view is simply breathtaking. The views form the balconies and indoor dining room are also spectacular.

Carmela and her lovely family, who own the hotel, and all of the staff at the hotel were absolutely delightful and so accommodating and welcoming to us and all of our guests. They were always willing to help with our bespoke plans and incredibly warm and friendly.

We stayed for 2 nights at the hotel and the view from our balcony was beautiful. The hotel amenities and service are fantastic and the hotel itself is spotless.

We thought the food was unbelievably fresh and beautifully cooked, and this was a view shared by every one of our guests.

We will definitely be back to this hotel in the future and would highly recommend it.

Thank you again to Carmela and the lovely hotel staff.

We really did have the wedding of our dreams, and it was largely thanks to Tramonto d'oro.

My mother first stayed at this hotel on a sixth form trip in the '60s. When we told her we had booked a stay there for 3 nights in September to attend a friend's wedding in neighbouring Positano, she became misty eyed and said " ask if a waiter called Giancarlo still works there". Her memories, to a soundtrack of The Beach Boys, were of stunning views, friendly service, good food ( and we didn't enquire too closely about Giancarlo).

Fast forward to 2013 when we returned with our two and a half year old son. The staff were instantly welcoming and volunteered to rearrange our room; removing furniture to give us more room with a child. The food was outstanding, we did not find better in Praiano. The restaurant balcony offers stunning views across the rocky coastline.
However, it was the service more than anything which made the stay at this hotel so special for us. We were aware before arriving that the Italians, unlike the British, actually like children. But we were unprepared for just how warm a welcome was waiting for us. The Nonna ( Granny),who is clearly in charge and never seems to sleep; seemed almost part of the family by the time we left. She presented our little boy with a beautifully carved Pinnoccio on our second day at lunch as a spontaneous act of kindness. When I was ill on the penultimate day of our trip, the family's daughter offered to make my husband camomile tea and plates of sandwiches to take to me in our room. Seeing me up and about on the final day I got a huge hug from Nonna together with a kindly lecture on looking after myself. As we waited for our taxi to the airport our son was bought more gifts and I was given a mug made from local pottery.

I have never written a review on Tripadvisor before but I wanted to share our experience. This family run hotel has been dishing out wonderful service for generations.

Hotel Tramonto D'Oro was a great surprise. It was our first visit to this family-run hotel and we will definitely return. The food was very good and the service excellent. The location is ideal. We were able to rent a vespa and explore Positano, Revello, and Amalfi. The town itself hosts some great churches and even an interesting cemetery.
we loved it and you will to

We stayed at this hotel after a long walk from Conca dei Marini. It is located in the center of town overlooking the sea and the Duomo. Although the rooms were not palatial, the service makeup for what it lacked. Everyone was friendly and the matriarch of the family who runs the place was very cute and welcoming, visiting with everyone at breakfast etc. The pool was large but a bit tired. We had a room with a small patio that was pleasant for enjoying a drink before dinner. We ate dinner there and the food was very good and reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Get a room with a patio and a view otherwise the rooms seem a bit dark.
