“Fantastic food, wine and atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

We read about this restaurant and wanted to try it out while staying in Praiano. What everyone says is bang on. Great food, wine and atmosphere. If you are in the area, don't miss this place.

“We LOVE Vivaro :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

This spot is amazing - My Husband read the reviews. So we checked it out and they are not wrong. It's a wonderful dining experience. We came back a second time with a group we had met that day in Capri and everyone really enjoy it. Genarro is a great chef and host. You would be missing out to be on the Amalfi Coast and not stop here. It's right on the main st. in Praiano. Take the bus - take the car - swim if you must - but eat/drink/behappy at Vivaro. Our first visit we came in and had white wine - snacks and then said we were game for whatever - he brought us an amazing gnocchi with spicy sausage - and then a tbone steak bigger than I had ever seen. He showed it to us before he cooked it and my huz is so sad he didn't get a pic ;) It was amazing - we finished the bottle of wine - ordered another glass of red once the steak arrive and the bill was 78E - this was really around what we had been paying to eat most anywhere in Italy. The second time we came it was the eve before my Bday and we were a group of 6 - all got bottles of wine - pasta dishes - and mains with proteins. At one point one of the couple ordered fish. Genarro leaves and comes back inside holding a fish to show them - asks if ok - we joke that he will jump in the ocean to create what you want for a beautiful meal. Really a must stop spot for your journey. He's only open at night 6pm till late.

“Gennaro is simply the best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

The host, Gennaro, is the main attraction at this small wine bar along the main street through town (and the entire coast). The ambiance is quiet and relaxed with cool lighting and fewer than 10 tables. Allow Genarro to guide you through his extensive regional wine selection. His taste is superb and the prices are reasonable. Next, tell him whether you would prefer fish or meat and let him work his magic in the kitchen. You will not be disappointed...unless of course he is already full for the evening.

“Great atmospere, great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

We followed the recommendation of an American couple we met in Praiano. The place is small and intimate. It is located on the main road from Amalfi to Positano, if you don't know it exists, you'll pass it by without notice. Actually it looks like a den, but it supplies its customers with the ultimate culinary pleasure. There is no menu, but Genaro, the owner, will cook your dream meal, whether it's pasta, seafood or meat. Open from 22: 00 until the small hours of the night (it is also possible to sit there and only have a drink and enjoy the atmosphere). Since the owner Gnaro, is the waiter, and bartender and also the cook don’t go there if you are very hungry or in a hurry because Genaro is not either. We ordered two pasta seafood dishes. Gnaro asked about each and every ingredient of the dish and whether we would like him to add it or not (at the level of: spicy? with parsley? what kind of clams? with shrimp?, etc.) it was a blessing for me since i have some food allergies. Everything was delicious, very aesthetic and generous. The background music is fine. The price was also fair!.
Please note, there are no parking places in the area (but if you are vacationing the Amalfi coast you already know that. It is recommended to arrive by taxi or scooter). No doubt it was the most enjoyable dinner on this trip. Without any doubt we will return if we only can.
