This was our second trip to amalfi coast and praiano so we were knowledgeable on the area and the travelling around. We chose this hotel as it was in the centre of praiano and obviously, sitting on the terrace enjoying the beautiful views of Positano and the area is something one can really enjoy here
I'm going to start with the negative first but please do continue the read the pick up on the positives
Check on your room first !!!!! Some of the rooms are very small. They are doubles but only just. They may have windows leading onto a balcony but some balcony are minute and just about have one chair. Some rooms don't even have that and have no natural light. Just a window high up in the wall. Some rooms however can sleep up to 4 , bit of a squeeze But with fantastic patio areas and breathtaking views. Rooms 31 to 34 offer this. The beds are not great. The mattresses are not sturdy if you are used to hard mattresses.
The breakfasts are ok. We've had better in Italy and the choice is not very varied.
Wifi is only upstairs in the lounge area and can be very slow.
There are quite a few steps leading down to the hotel so be mindful with luggage and if you struggle with walking this is not ideal. As you have these to walk up everytime you go into the village . Praiano has a lot of steps ,and hilly bits which are fine and good exercise but be mindful if you have elderly or disabled people in your party.
On a positive the staff are helpful, the hotel is perfectly located for visiting the areas of the amalfi coast. It has a pool and lovely pool seating area, they provide home cooked meals for the evening if you require and the patio area for breakfast is perfect for enjoying the amalfi views.
If you want a scooter go along the road it mr rentascooter and he provides good scooters at reasonable prices. Around 60 euros per day. We hired one for two days and travelled the whole of the amalfi coast to Salerno , minori, mairoi, Nerano, ravelleo, villagri, sorrento, Positano and of course praiano, Roads can be a little hairy but ok when you take care. Exploring by scooter is best as you can nip in and out and really see everything. There are plenty of boat trips around and the best beach is down the road towards the open gate restaurant in a little bay. The beach by the hotel has a good platform for sunbathing, good beach bar but not any access to the sea or really safe swimming, especially if you have little ones. It is also a lot of steps to climb !!!!!!!
