This hotel has got the best view in Praiano and this is what Amalfi is all about anyway.

Family run, honest hotel...friendly owners and view of the room is amazing. It see amazing Positano and large balcony which you could get a bottle of local wine from the bar for €12 (amazing wine btw) and spend the entire night in peace and tranquality.

There is a beach directly located under the hotel if you go down 300 stairs...it is also unique for Amalfi as not every hotel has direct access to beaches. Once you are in the beach, again it is nice and peaceful...

Hotel is not modern...you will see crack tiles here or there, not proper towels or hair dryer for ladies in the room...rooms are not exactly modern but it has everything you'd need in it apart from a refrigarator. However, if you go to Amalfi, you do not go for the hotel room, you go for view and peace and this hotel is exactly offering that.

Breakfast is weak...actually it is very weak and that what the only down side of the hotel. I eat tomatos and olives in the morning and I asked a single tomato sliced with 6-7 green olives...They did exactly what I have asked for but...this is big but they charged me €10 extra for this per day.

This was little bit upsetting because it is not something you would expect from a family run hotel...single tomato and 7 olives...I therefore did not leave any tip during check-out.

It is a good value hotel and you get exactly what you are paying for which is the view.

We have stayed here for 3 nights in June 2013. This family-own small hotel is nice, clean with absolutely gorgeous view of the sea and Positano. Service is excellent with good food served in one of the most beautiful places on Amalfi Cost.
Thank you !

We have stayed here for 5 nights during our holiday on Amalfi Coast.

This family run hotel is absolutely great and I will explain you why:

1. Superb location and view in downtown Praiano.

You'll find the back side of the hotel just on the Praiano village main road, and the front of the hotel, where all the rooms are positioned, facing the sea, with gorgeous view of Positano, Capri and the Amalfi coast.

Praiano is just between Positano and Amalfi, their is about 10km to each one, so this is the best position to start exploring the coast.

2. Superior room we had was very large and comfortable, mediteranean style in white and blue, with a splendid view private terrace.

3. Cozy atmosphere upon the lobby and fabulous view restaurant, with delicious food, excellent prices and value and amazing views. And so romantic music ...

Pasquale, Raffaele, Petra and Mama - thank you so much for your great hospitality.

Room Tip: Choose the superior rooms for the great view !

Although we stayed at a different hotel, we ate here following advice from others and were not disappointed. We actually went back several times. The family-owners are extremely friendly and accommodating. The food is incredible - fresh seafood, varied and changing menu with daily specials. Great wine selection too. Price is more than reasonable.
The atmosphere is very cozy and friendly which prompts interaction with other guests - all of whom we met had only great things to say about their own experience at Smeraldo.

We had the superior room, it's a bit more expensive but def worth it. the room itself is great, the shower is ridiculous and the balcony is amazing with a great view of the ocean and Positano to the west. And the most amazing part is there is a bathtub/jacuzi on the balcony and you can even taka shower there!

Room Tip: if you wanna splurge the superior room is def worth the extra bucks

A small family run hotel that prides itself on its service. Amazing views towards Positano and over the coast. Wonderful balcony. Walls are a bit too thin. Heard neighbor snoring every night. The beach is a little hard to get to, 460 steps to be precise. Downhill is okay. But the trip back is a killer. Try to go down before 8am - you might meet some hard working donkeys carrying down the beach cafe's supplies. It's like stepping back in time. The beach is pretty nice too, but is less of a beach and more of a ladder-over-cliff sort of thing.

The restaurant is good, just don't try to ask for parmesan with your pasta. They don't take too kindly to garnish!
