“Excellent food, excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

This is a beautiful restaurant overlooking the sea. And if you are there at the right time you will witness a magnificent sun set. The service is exceptional. We actually had Balda the owner/chef collect us from our hotel and drive us back again. The wait staff are very well trained and warm and inviting and fun. We had complimentary sparkling wine on arrival and bruschetta. We had the pumpkin flowers for starters and they were light and beautiful. We then had fish we got to choose from a selection presented to us earlier. This was served on a huge platter with really large macaroni style pasta. The sauce it was cooked in was devine and the selection of home made breads were lovely to soak it up. Dessert was lovely and we finished up with their home made biscottis and coffee. Very nice meal although a little expensive, but service was excellent.

“Amazing service and food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

We were recommended Hosteria il Pino from the owner of the hotel we stayed at in Praiano. He had previously recommended other restaurants that were really good, so we were quite sure the recommendation would be good too.

The restaurant was hidden down a flight of stairs from the main road and when we arrived we were served a complimentary glass of sparkling wine and a mini bruschetta, with a table viewing the back garden. Already the service seemed really good - especially since we received this unexpected treat.

We ordered assorted sea shells to share for a starter, which tasted very fresh. For the main meal we ordered grilled fish (mixture of various fish with salad - tasted delicous) and a "crazy water style" fish of the day. The owner presented all the fish that was fresh from that day, and for the "fish of the day" course, we were able to choose the fish we wanted. There were different fish in all shapes and sizes.

As a bonus, we discovered that the olive oil was homemade by the owner (every single olive had been hand picked!) and the wine was made in the vineyard in the back garden of the restaurant.

All in all, our experience at Hosteria il Pino was amazing and beyond expectations. Definitely a recommendation!

“A nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

Great location and if you are staying in Praiano Il Pino picks you up.
The starters, stuffed zuccini flowers and mixed grilled shellfish were both very good. The risotto with shrimps was average but the grilled seabream off the bone was first class.
The service was both efficient and friendly.

If you sit in the front an AC envelops a romantic scenic view in a rather aggressive noice.

“A lovely restaurant experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

Ate here on our last night in Praiano and while it is more expensive than others in the town, it is very much a quality restaurant experience.

Staff were attentive, friendly and had a bit of fun. The food was delicious - the most generous portioned and tasty seafood pasta of many that I had during our stay on the Amalfi Coast. Hubbie had the half lobster which was delicious. Food was elegantly presented and there were little extras like bruschetta to complement the meal.

Would highly recommend and definitely go back on future visits.

“Great Service not great food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

We visited Hosteria il Pino on October 6th. We had some very good things about it. Our server was wonderful. She was funny yet efficient. We ordered the wine that the owner makes himself. Was not impressed for 25 euros. For dinner I ordered the Risotto ( the signature dish of the restaurant and my boyfriend ordered the salt encrusted fish. The risotto was too lemony and way too heavy. The fish was full of bones. For 39 euros you think they would do a better job of de-boning it. Would not return.
