“Brilliant hotel in Praiano”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014 via mobile

Stayed in early March just after the hotel opened for the season. Luigi, the owner, could not do enough for us. Took us down to and picked us up from the village on our first night as it was raining heavily. On the next days helped with bus tickets as these need to be pre purchased for the SITA local services to Amalfi or Sorrento. We hired a car to get from Naples to Praiano, we hardly used the car once at Praiano as the local bus service is good and you avoid the tribulations of driving the coast road.
Top floor dining area has large log fire that was always well alight by the time we came up for our breakfast. This early in the year the hotel only does B&B. The breakfasts were beautiful on a par with the view, the home made lemon cake is a must.
The room we had (21) has it's own balcony and terrace, which gave a superb view along the coast to Praiano and Positano.
This is the best small hotel we have ever stayed in any where in the world. It thoroughly deserves it's top rating.

Very nice family offering excellent service. The hotel has a fantastic view, restaurant was excellent and we even had a terrasse in our room. Not perfectly located but a bus station is in front and they will get you a parking place if you want to use your car so we didn't suffer from it at all. Highly recommended.

I simply cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Our room was gorgeous, with a balcony overlooking the Mediterranean. The bed was firmer than the average American bed (which was true of every place we stayed in Italy), but I slept quite comfortably. The bathroom was enormous and luxurious. No bathtub, but a huge closed-in shower with a seat and multiple jets you could switch between.

The food was amazing. We were the last guests of the season, so the restaurant was closed for dinner, but we had breakfast every morning and cake every afternoon. All of it was excellent.

The location was great - just outside of the main village of Praiano (where you find an entry to the Pathway of the Gods hiking trail), and with a bus stop right out front if you want to explore the Amalfi Coast.

All of this makes the Pellegrino worth staying at, but what really sets it apart is the service. Luigi and his family could not have been more accommodating. Each night he drove us to one of the few open restaurants (late November) for dinner, and picked us up again when we called. He makes bus use easy because he sells the passes from the desk, and offers detailed instructions on how to get where you want to go. When he found out that my husband's drink of choice is diet coke, he made sure that the mini-bar was stocked with it. And there's that fabulous food I mentioned. I swear, I dream about his homemade tiramisu.

The Pellegrino is charming, comfortable, welcoming, and well situated. It will be the highlight of your trip to Italy - it was for me!

The staff make this hotel very welcoming.

They served delicious food at breakfast and dinner.

Our room was very clean. Our view was great as well.

Owner made sure our car was parked safe every day.

Rooms are quiet. We never heard other guests once.

I just wish we booked for a longer stay at this hotel.

We almost did not go on this excursion and what a mistake it would have been!
The Amalfi Coast is only a 3 hour car drive from Rome and is well worth it.
We headed first to Vietri sul Mare to visit the captivating ceramic shops, then onto Ravello, Atrani
and Amalfi on our way to Praiano where we were to stay overnight.
Il Pellegrino is a beautiful hotel run by the most wonderful people you could ever want to meet.
We had a most comfortable room and were awed by the view of the Mediterranean from the balcony crowned with bougainvilliers in bloom. Luigi and his family are terrific hosts, funny, generous and attentive. They greeted us with wine on the terrace which also boasts a
spectacular view. We were delighted with our stay and marveled at our luck in finding such a place at a very reasonable price. The full breakfast includes fresh fruit and yogurt, toast and home-made jams, eggs, prosciutto and the best coffee ever! Do not miss this spot!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor with a balcony overlooking the Mediterranean.

Hotel Pellegrino is a perfectly run family establishment in a very convenient location. From the moment you arrive until the last wave of goodbye, Luigi and his family make you feel welcome and well taken care of. After being shown to our charming, spotless and comfortable room with an amazing little balcony overlooking the town of Praiano and the coastline, we were invited for welcome drinks and snacks on the patio. The daily included breakfasts were superb and plentiful! You start out with a fresh fruit salad, your choice of omelettes, cheese, cold cuts, cereal, yogurt, freshly baked pastries, fresh juices and hot beverages. Note that their jams are homemade and not to be missed! We were pleasantly surprised to find that the establishment has a little restaurant exclusively for its guests for dinner. As we had a long day when we arrived, we decided to have dinner there the first night, and boy were we impressed, so much so that we ended up eating there every night of our 3 night stay. As we are foodies, we normally enjoy trying a variety of restaurants but after the first night's meal we were so hooked that even after coming across many other highly recommended restaurants we kept coming back to hotel Pellegrino for dinner. The food was lovingly prepared and just outstanding. Every night, a different selection of antipasti was available. We decided to follow that with various dishes, our favorites including lemon shrimp risotto, linguini Alla Vongole, and fresh grilled fish. We topped this off with delicious homemade deserts. Everything was super fresh and reasonably priced. Not surprisingly we were not the only guests having dinner there multiple nights. We can't wait to go back, next time for a much longer stay!

My partner and I stayed at Hotel Pellegrino for 5 nights in July 2013 and from the moment we set foot in this family run hotel we knew we were going to be well looked after.

After a long day of travelling and a late arrival time, Luigi welcomed us with a beautifully prepared meal and wine to settle us in. It was so good we decided we wanted to come back for dinner. Luigi and his family prepare a daily menu based on what's in season. It was one of the best meals we had both ever eaten in our lives. Everything is cooked by Luigi and his family so it's extremely authentic, tasty and he uses only the finest ingredients. We tried a few other places around Amalfi coast and Positano but we kept coming back to the hotel as it was never as good! Oh and wait for breakfast!!!

The location is perfect. You are smack bang in the middle of Amalfi and Positano so away from the crowds but also very close to a great private beach (ask Luigi to show you as you have to walk down quite a few steps to reach it but don't worry getting back is much easier as you can get a free boat). We ended up back at this private beach every day. We wouldn't have wanted to stay in any other location on the coast. The beach is relaxing during the day with great music and get's louder in the evenings. The food here was AMAZING. We had the rock melon and parma ham and the tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad.

Although you are on a main road I believe most hotels are so it can get a little noisy first thing in the morning however we didn't mind as it got us out of bed ready to explore each day. This is not a 5 star hotel in appearance but it is in food, value and service. Everything is very clean and we were extremely comfortable.

All in all this place was great, we couldn't recommend it highly enough. Even if you decide to stay somewhere else you must eat here one night.

We will be back 100%
