Description: Since april 2011, the gavitella has been under the new expert management of paolo, a positano summer native. At the front of the house there is his charming partner sara, of australian, italian origin, so no language problems.the gavitella is a stunning location between priano and positano away from the beaten tourist track. It is great fun to be picked upand taken home by private boat, courtesy of the patrons..A Perfect place to sunbathe on the deck lounges and swim in the sea from the small rocky beach and afterwards to enjoy a cool drink in the shade, a delicious lunch or a romantic candlelit dinner.the menu has been revisited by the new chef and features fresh fish, local produce, both traditional and contempory cuisine with truly mediterranean italian flavours.it is also possible to anchor your yacht or motor boat infront of the restaurant, telephone them for aperitivo service or to be shuttled to the restaurant for lunch or dinner, just ring and they will collect you.you may want to celebrate wedding receptions, birthdays, anniversaries here, a perfect place.

“A wonderful dining experience taking in the ambience of the Amalfi Coast.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2012

We spent a week in Positano and enjoyed the food at the many restaurants to choose from. On the last night however, we had our best dining experience at La Gavitella, a restaurant which is set at the bottom of a cliff right along the water in Praiano and is only accessible by boat. The food was exquisite and the uninterrupted view of the Amalfi waters and coastline was dreamy. The staff were eager to please and very friendly. Part of our unforgettable visit to La Gavitella was the enjoyable 10 minute boat ride from Positano which was arranged by the restaurant. As we left for the restaurant we got to take in the amazing vertical vista of Positano which we'd grown to fall in love with over the past week, and the magnificent coastline of the Amalfi. Apparently the restaurant is inundated by the locals for Sunday lunch who all arrive on their boats. For something a little different, we highly recommend the experience but make sure you book in advance

“Amazing Place for a Wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2011

We got married with 55 guests in Positano this September and decided to have our reception at La Gavitella upon a recommendation of one of the Positano locals.

Getting the boats to collect the guests and watching the lists of the Positano shore as you go across was amazing - then walking up to the outside terrace overlooking the sea to see all our guests happily waiting for us with the decorations and special touch's we had brought with us all laid out - fantastic.

We opted for a DJ - Sara from the restaurant recommended - Ciro (cirorispoli@hotmail.it). He was great we sent him a playlist which included some Irish songs all of which he sourced - it was good as during dinner he played slower music then revved it up for the afters. The food was fabulous - so much and the wine flowed - in true Italian style it was a long dinner which gave everyone a chance to chat and admire the view before we got dancing!

For an intimate wedding - with the boat trip, views to die for and the assurance that the guys there (Sara the owner has excellent English) will go the extra mile for you this is definitely the place!

“excellent dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2011

We ate at this restaurant three times. Each meal was excellent and well worth the money. The house wines (white and red) complemented the food perfectly. The staff was very friendly, and accomodating and we enjoyed leisurely dinners while taking in a fantastic view. Their fish dishes are excellent! Try to sit by the road - just watching the night life in the small village is entertaining!,
