Owner description: This stretch of coastline has often been described as the most beautiful in the entire Mediterranean. One afther another, green and rocky mountainsp lunge dramatically into the mediterranean blue sea. The famouse Amalfi Coast road clings to the mountainsides revealing a succession of picturebook wiews each seemingly more stunning than the one before. Not so many years ago much of this coast was only accessible by boat. Now it is a fashionable resort area which retains the charm of past times.

“Beach, Italian Style!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

After taking the 400+ steps down from our hotel to this smaller beach (can also get to the main beach and walk across), my daughter and I had a wonderful day soaking up the sun with mostly Italians. Much less touristy than the main beach in Positano, this beach is still crowded in August, but it is easy to purchase a chair and umbrella. We had called ahead to reserve a chairs/umbrella, but I think it was unnecessary. We went to da Ferdinando (one of the 4 vendors on the beach), and they were very nice. There is a nice little restaurant, with remarkably good food (Panini's, salads, etc.) and ice-cold beer. Also, bring something to collect sea glass -- while the specimens are small, the colors are evocative of the various colors of the Mediterranean Sea!

“Beach Shoes a "must"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

This beach is occupied by 4 vendors who rent chairs, umbrellas, towels, and bath houses for approx 8 euro per person. A small tip may get you a front row seat. Upon entering the beach, look for a desk or beach representative who'll take your money and assign your chairs. It's tacky to walk up to vacant seats and plop down your gear... the prime seats are almost always reserved for "regualrs" or hotel guests and you'll be asked to move for certain... ALWAYS pay first and take the chairs they give you! Arrive early (before 10am) for the best selection.

This beach and the area under water is comprised of small, polished pebbles. Unless your feet are made of kevlar, you'll need some type of beach shoes to get from your chair and into/out of the water. We each purchased a cheap pair (under $10) before leaving the US - we left them at the hotel when we checked out. (these are the kind of shoes you see people wearing at water parks etc...)

“Our favourite beach in Positano”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

We loved Spiaggia del Fornillo beach and it was by far our favourite in Positano.

Located just a small walk away from town and the main, very busy beach, be prepared to soak up some stunning views en route.

The beach, although smaller than the main beach, is clean and less touristy. Yes, it's a pebbly beach so flip flops are recommended, but you forget all about that when you dive into the beautiful warm, azure waters.

Take your goggles and snorkel as there is quite a few fish and crabs to be seen.

The cost to hire a sun lounger on this beach was only 8 euro for the day, which is much better value than the main beach, plus it has some great rock pools for exploring.

There are several cafes available serving food and drink on the beach... One even serves take away pizza!

You can hire small boats, pedalos or kayaks on the beach also for a small fee.

“Great small beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

Take the pathway from the main beach area that goes under the hotels and ristorante for an easy 10 min walk which is breathtaking. Get to the beach and the beach chairs are cheaper than the main beach and there are several great cafes that make superb salads and pizzas

“Go to this beach!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

Cheaper and a nicer experience than the main beach, and not far from it. Nice restaurants/bars a few feet away. The free wifi is nice, and not as crowded.
