Owner description: This stretch of coastline has often been described as the most beautiful in the entire Mediterranean. One afther another, green and rocky mountainsp lunge dramatically into the mediterranean blue sea. The famouse Amalfi Coast road clings to the mountainsides revealing a succession of picturebook wiews each seemingly more stunning than the one before. Not so many years ago much of this coast was only accessible by boat. Now it is a fashionable resort area which retains the charm of past times.

“Don't forget to pack!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

Beach shoes or sandals you don't mind getting wet! Being from Virginia Beach with smooth white sand, the rocks, while smooth, are a different sensation to the soles of your feet from sand! :-) the sandals you might purchase in Positano are far too expensive for these rocks!!

“loved this beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

away from the hustle and bustle of positano's main beaches, fornillo is a beautiful 5 minutes walk from the marina - OR you can take their free shuttle boat from the marina. The lounge chairs are 7 euro and you get an umbrella, the shuttle boat, bathroom, changing room. They have a cafe with good food - we got panini that were delicious and worth the wait (service is slow when they get busy). The boat service stops between 1-4pm. We came back to this beach at least twice

“Fun way to Relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

It's worth the pretty walk along the coastline path to this beach which is just outside the town center and the crowded main beach. It is all smooth, hot, black stones/rocks - no sand. You rent chairs and umbrellas, and there are bathrooms. Good restaurants too. Definitely worth a few hours or half day.

“Nice Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

The beach of Fornillo is not to far from the main beach of Positano. It's not so crowded and water is clean.
The beach has no sand but small stones. It's a good place if you'd like to relax and the sun gos away at about 5pm.
We stayed at ferdinando where we had some salads and a coke.
