“Deserves its ranking!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

Staying in this hotel for 3 nights. Fantastic location in Positano. Even prior to our arrival the concierge was helpful organizing our trip. During our trip the staff made sure all our wishes were fulfilled. They organized our boat trip to the Amalfi Coast. The breakfast overlooking the Mediterranean was delicious and full of variety. The room was cleaned twice a day! All towels replaced twice a day! The rooms and the whole hotel is immaculate. This hotel deserves a five star. Would recommend it without hesitation.

Room Tip: Room with terrace overlooking the Mediterranean view.

We just stayed at Buca di Bacco and it was a memorable experience. The location is the best in all of Positano--right on the beach. The room was fantastic--a beautiful view of the ocean, large balcony, an incredible shower with its own ocean view, and the room was spotless being serviced twice a day. The only ding is that there was a lipstick stain on a glass in the bathroom--We were more than willing to chalk it up to something that didn't come off in the dish washer. We also took a cooking class, which I would recomend to anyone--informative and a lot of fun--we also ate the mounds of food at the end in what was one of our favorite dinners. The restaurant itself is very, very good--the lamb chops and fried appetizer sampler were both great. Finally the service was six stars--the staff was extremely helpful and knowledgable about the area and knew our unquie preferences breakfast by the second day. Not cheap, but I would definitely return and recomend to anyone looking for a wonderful stay in Positano!

My husband and I stayed here for six nights on an anniversary trip to Europe which we concluded in Positano. Despite a terrible experience getting to the hotel (SITA bus from Sorrento....beware fellow travellers of rude and violent bus drivers!!) arriving at this hotel was a pleasant relief. A beautiful location, rooms with magnificent views. Unfortunately there are a few criticisms I feel can't be ignored. We were rudely awaken one evening at about 10:30pm by housekeeping staff who simply opened the door (without knocking), once startled by us lying on the bed she left but we wondered what on earth was going on... Perhaps a late night turn down service but a knock would have been appreciated and could have saved us some embarrassment. The next day our room wasn't attended to at all by housekeeping until we asked receiption staff to make up the room in the evening when we left for dinner.
Secondly our bed was simply two single beds jammed together...not what I expect from a hotel of this reputation and quite uncomfortable!!
We ate one evening at the hotel restaurant and although the food was fantastic, it was unfortunately delivered by wait staff who were perfunctory at best, bored and rude at worst.
Reception staff were very helpful in assisting us with our early departure on the day we left and with any other requests. It really is a lovely hotel, it is expensive but we visited in August at the height of tourist season and hey it's Italy, you pay a penny for the privilege of living le dolce vita!! Special mention must be made of the breakfast staff: Salvatore & Chantal, such delightful, friendly & helpful people they are a credit to the hotel!!

Love, love Buca di Bacco - it was so hard to leave!
Our room was divine (Room 33), huge room dressed up in a gorgeous 'Italian style' with beautiful furniture, bedding, tiled floors, chandelier, big soaking bath and the balcony with sunbeds, table and chairs WOW room to wander it was so wide and the view to the sea Uplifting to the soul.
The staff are attentive, polite and with excellent English.
Substantial buffet breakfast on a sunny balcony overlooking the ocean. Basic scrambled egg and bacon but the fruit, cereals, yoghurt, cakes and Italian delicacies offered were abundant and varied. There was also a machine to make your own fresh orange juice.
We were only in Positano 5 days after travelling through Europe for nearly 6 weeks so chose to enjoy the location rather than wander too far but we enjoyed a day trip to Capri
Once in Capri catch the funicular to the town centre (we tried to walk as we didn't know about the funicular and after 1 1/2 hours of walking in 40deg heat gave up).
On the Port in Capri is a lovely bar 'Bar Iolanda' and a sandal maker Il Sandalo Caprese - the bar is on the waterfront with the sandal maker working at the front of the shop behind. He has been making sandals since 1964 and is a charming older man. Compared to Positano his prices and range were better value and the choice amazing (still pricey but not in the Jimmy Choo price range). It was an eclectic place offering tasty food/drinks, sandals, liquers and souveniers. They also offered free tastings of the Limoncello and Meloncello (preferred the melon) which were sublime but a bit head spinning in the hot weather. What we really enjoyed about Bar Iolanda and Il Sandalo Caprese were how helpful and friendly the people were; though I suppose it helps when you have superior products to work with www.capristore.it
Don't fuss if you get stung by a jelly fish - even with the locals screaming Medusa hahaha there is always a lifeguard or I think his title is the gabieneri close by with a bottle of ammonia to spray onto the sting. The worse thing that will probably happen is you may need antihistamines NOT like our Aussie jellyfish!
Dining at Buca di Bacco was sublime - the food is just wonderful. Views of the sea, attentive service, beautiful wines.
My husband and I also completed the cooking course which is an excellent experience and we learnt so much. Andrea was our 'tutor' and he has the patience of a saint - he was ably assisted in the translation process by a knowledgeable young woman who was lovely. To top it off the class then enjoyed the dishes cooked in the restaurant with wine. Bellissimo
Don't miss out the Buca di Bacco experience - wonderful beyond words.

Absolutely the best location in Positano. We had 2 rooms at the hotel. Our room had an amazing terrace overlooking the water (room 10) Our kids room (room 51) had a nice view as well with a good balcony.

The location was right on the water with many restaurants nearby and lots of shopping right out our door.

The rooms were kept immaculate. The cleaning staff came twice a day to clean and replace towels. The front desk was attentive and extremely helpful. This hotel truly made our stay.

You cannot beat the location of this hotel. It is literally right on the waterfront and by many restaurants. We had 2 rooms. Our room had a huge terrace with and amazing view. Our kids also had an amazing view with a small balcony.

The cleaning staff kept the rooms immaculate and came twice a day to clean and replace towels. The front desk was attentive and extremely helpful.

No complaints.

Love this Hotel. Have stayed here several times and it just keeps getting better if that is possible! It is close to the Beach and the rooms are beautiful. The Décor is amazing with cool Ceramic Tiles the highlight. The view from the Balcony over the Mediterranean is so beautiful and relaxing you don't ever want to move. The Breakfast itself is everything you would ever want. The staff are amazing and remember us every time we return. The Hotel is spotless and has a warm friendly feeling. Why would we stay anywhere else in Bella Positano.

Room Tip: We always stay in the original part of the Hotel in a sea facing room with Balcony. Room 12 is great...
