“Fabulous Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

My wife and I had occasion to stay at the Hotel Marincanto for two nights in October and we cannot speak highly enough of it. This was our first trip to Positano and was intended to give us just a taste of the Amalfi Coast. We could not have asked for a more delicious taste! It broke our hearts to leave after just two nights. From the moment we left our car to the care of the parking attendant upon arrival to the efficient and friendly check-out two days later by Vincenza we felt totally relaxed and comfortable in this wonderful hotel that oozes Mediterranean charm. Our room was spacious, bright and had a balcony that overlooked the sea. The lounge adjacent to the reception area was equally spacious and bright and lead to a wonderful leafy terrace overlooking the water. We ate an extremely generous and varied breakfast under the branches of an orange tree. With a pool and the beach below, one could easily whittle away the time without ever stepping out of the hotel! But if you do, the centre of Positano is only about a 10 minute walk away with a couple of decent restaurants along the way. Everyone on staff was unfailingly polite and friendly. Perhaps I should add that we were blessed with uncharacteristically warm and sunny weather but had it been otherwise, the Marincanto would be the place I'd most want to be in. The management and staff are to be complimented on providing an exceptional level of hospitality.

This is my second stay at the Marincanto and I would not hesitate to stay here in the future nor to highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a wonderful hotel with spectacular views and a very dedicated, hard-working and people-oriented staff. I wish to say a special thank you to Franco who spoke with the airline and helped me locate my delayed baggage when my efforts had failed to produce results. Breakfast was fantastic as usual and the views over the city are pure heaven. Don’t think twice about booking your Positano here - you won’t regret it. Also be sure to book a tour of the city and/or wine tasting with Christine from Discover Positano.

The views are spectacular from the rooms, pool, and dining area. There are also stairs (many) that lead down to the beach. It is just a short walk from the center of town (we arrived by ferry and did have our bags taken by to the hotel by a porter - $10 per bag, arranged thru the hotel as it would have been too steep to carry them up). The breakfast buffet was excellent. Being slightly off season, we got a triple room at very good price considering the quality of the hotel. The service at the hotel was excellent as well. One of the best hotel experiences ever for me!

This is the second time we have stayed at the Marincanto and since our last visit (2008), there has been some additional facilities, such as the ability to dine in the restaurant in the evenings and the addition of a small pool.

We have stayed in room 232 and 230 (this visit), they are both in a block away from the main building, which means you have to traverse some steepish steps -both offer a lovely view. The view from the sun bathing terrace is breathtaking and Gianni works very hard to look after everyone.

Breakfast on the Lemon Terrace is a joy and so are the lovely staff who look after you, especially Lisa. In fact we couldnt fault any of the staff, they are courteous, helpful and professional. To be recommended in reception is Enza - always cheery and helpful. We shall definitely return.

If you are planning to visit Positano then you have to be prepared for lots of steep hills and steps to climb - so take comfortable shoes. Would also recommend a trip across to Capri - and of course the hotel staff will help you organise it!

One night in Positano, can't forget its beauty in my mind.
The receptionist upgraded our room as a special treatment for our honeymoon, which is just so sweet! Thanks again.
Breakfast is fantastic. i asked for twice the cappucino with the heart-shape cocoa powder on it. Love it.
The view is great. Day, night, down, the different colors of the sea...
I should have brought my swimming suit! Gosh!

The hotel has spectacular views from the rooms, sun deck, pool and dining area. Looking over Positano, one is totally taken care of by the staff who are courteous, helpful, charming and friendly. The food is extraordinary and when combined with the stunning views and music....And to fall asleep to the gentle sound of waves on the sea is a treat. You could not ask for more --- except perhaps more time in this bit of paradise.
