“A quiet friendly spot in a jewel of a location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

We absolutely loved Positano and are kicking ourselves for only allocating 2 days here. This hotel is small with only 16 rooms but the rooms and bathroom are huge and we made great use if the large balcony. We were able to garage our car nearby which was a must for us. The staff are very pleasant and friendly. The breakfast was modest but adequate. The beach s an easy 10 min walk.

On the last evening if our day we were treated to just over an hour of amazing rue works from the top of the cliff face above the hotel, celebrating a saints day. It sounded like WW3 as the explosions ricocheted down the gorge. Everyone was out walking asking and celebrating till well after 1.00am.
The beach is extraordinary with rows of lounges and umbrellas on the black pebble beach, very different for a couple if Aussies and there seemed to be a but if an Aussie invasion happening while we were there. A deck chair and towel will cost you €15 fir the day and its worth every cent. The water here was crystal clear, cool and so salty you could easily float for hours.
Food in the restaurants along the beach was dearer as you'd expect, we found Valle Dei Mulina a little up the hill and closer to the hotel very pleasant and a little quieter tho it s a large restaurant it felt less crowded.
On a final note while we I'll most definitely return to Positano we would never drive here again, our Renault Megane was on the big side for the roads on the Amalfi especially as we are not so used to driving on what is the opposite side if the road for us and made for a somewhat stressful beginning and end to the experience.
We would stay here again for sure.

We stayed at the Royal Prisco on our Honeymoon. After searching online, not knowing the city...we were so glad to finally arrive in Positano. The hotel was amazing. Great room with a balcony overlooking the water. The owners and their staff take great pride in keeping the place clean and trying their best to ensure your comfort. A very short walk into town, as compared to other hotels we were looking into, we consider ourselves very lucky and so happy to have found this gem.

We stayed here for two weeks as we were getting married in Positano. At first I was disappointed that we didn't get the larger room with the big terrace and sunloungers, but our room was large enough with a smaller terrace with a table and two chairs (room 10). The view is spectacular (apart from the parking garage)! The managers and staff are so friendly and cannot do enough for you, they helped us out with transport for our wedding, and also a booking for a trip to Capri. They are only too happy to help and give advice. We enjoyed breakfast, there was always something there that we liked, and Maria would always check that everything was OK. We loved the decor of the rooms which gave a very traditional feel. The rooms were cleaned daily and were absolutely spotless, they are the cleanest rooms I have ever encountered!! The towels always smelled really good. There was only one negative point which was the shower was quite small and we kept knocking the tap off with our elbow, but this certainly didn't spoil our stay.
To summarise, great location, friendly and helpful staff, and nice clean rooms. I would definately recommend, and revisit myself.

Fantastic stay, very close to the centre of Positano. The hotel was spotlessly clean and was run by lovely people - nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were big and the balcony had a nice view of the town.

Hotel Royal Prisco was in a good location, close to restaurants, shops, beach and transport. Our room (106) was well appointed with a very large balcony that over looked the town and ocean ( beautiful). The bed was very comfortable and bathroom with spa bath, bidet , double basins and plenty of towels was clean and large. There was plenty of hanging space and draws. The room cleaner was amazing, re-arranging every thing differently every day. Breakfast was of good quality and plenty of it and coffee was good although there was no eggs, bacon or toast available or any thing else cooked. Internet rarely worked, they told us that there had been a problem with supplier, not sure about that. There is no lift so be prepared to hike a few stairs. Staff reasonably ok . Would stay here again although a little expensive.

Room Tip: Rooms with balcony facing over ocean are by far the best.

We spent a week at Hotel Royal Prisco in mid-April and enjoyed it very much! We had a two bedroom, beautifully appointed suite with a huge bathroom. The balcony off the bedroom/sitting room had a breath-taking view of the town of Positano with the gorgeous dome in the very middle of the view. The continental breakfst was delicious with custom-made capuccino, expresso, fresh-baked croissants, fresh fruits and more. We could have our breakfast in the dining room or on our balcony. Our hosts, Maria and Michaelangelo were extremely courteous and made us feel very much at home. The hotel is located at the top of the hill and it's an easy walk down the lovely main street full of shops and restaurants to the
beautiful beach. If we are fortunate enough to return to Positano, we will definitely stay here again.

The location is ok, Positano is quite small. The view of the sea from the balcony is unbelievable, the staff is so friendly. They can help you in everything. The breakfast was good and fresh, we enjoyed it very much. The fact that the wi-fi signal was poor is the only negative thing I can say about this hotel.
