“Excellent location, excellent staff, excellent choice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2010

The reviews were so positive and the price so reasonable, I decided to book Hotel Savoia and as it turned out, I couldn't have been happier with my stay!! The location is very central - just seconds from the main shopping area and the beach, and my room was clean & spacious with a tiny balcony and gorgeous view of the town. The large, colorful tiles on each floor added to the ambience in the place. The breakfast buffet was a lovely spread with choices ranging from cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit to breads, meats, cheeses, and pastries, and of course, cappuccinos to your hearts content. I interacted with several different staff over the course of my weekend, and ALL of them were friendly, fun, helpful - especially with information about the local restaurants and services I should look for during the off-season. One of the reviews was that this was 5-star service with a 3-star price, and that is exactly what I found - I would go back there in a minute, and would whole-heartedly recommend the place to others.

Attentive, prompt, friendly service -- couldn't have been better. Quiet. Romantic. Beautifully tiled floors in our room and in the lobby. So clean we could have eaten off the floor. Delicious breakfast in the first-floor eating area, off of which is a very comfortable library and reading area. We had a roomy deck/veranda through double doors off our room, where we shared a bottle of French white burgundy that we carried from Beaune, while we feasted on the views of the town and sea. Internet access help for our IPhones from the owners' nephew. Doesn't get any better than staying in this hotel in this town. Cannot wait to return. Highly recommend staying here.

Savoia is unpretentious but very adequate. The front desk people (obviously family members) were quite friendly. The elevator was out of service when we arrived but they were quick to carry our suitcases up four flights of stairs. Our room, a triple, was a bit tight. Not sure how taller folks deal with the small shower cabin.

You can't beat the location ... within walking distance to everything. We could have paid 5 times as much at a nearby place, but I'm not sure we would have had 5 times as much fun!

Staff were very friendly and helpful; excellent choice of breakfast; comfortable rooms although there was some noise from the scooters flying by ! Perfect location right by the shops and beach.

My husband and I were scheduled to visit Italy and one of our destinations was Hotel Savoia in Positano. Unfortunately, a major snowstorm hit our area and we were not able to make our trip. Initially, we were told that since it was out of our control they would not hold us to the reservation policy of no cancellation. However, we were billed for our stay and they even sent us an e-mail thanking us for staying there! Our other hotels were sheduled to stay in were very understanding and we had no problems with cancellations. In all liklihood, since we were travelling during off-season, there were plenty of rooms to rent and we had not lost rental income for the hotel. They were just greedy and had a real attitude. Based on their character and attitude towards customers, I would highly discourage anyone from staying there. There are plenty of great hotels with caring owners and staff - just not here.

In all fairness, we at the Hotel Savoia make every effort possible to accomodate each one of our guests. Our reviews speak volumes about the quality of our service. We are sorry this customer has misconstrued the situation and the fact of tehir reservation.
However referred to this particular customer, we should underline that the original booking made through an independent booking engine was cancelled by the customer after visiting our site and asked to agree to what we offer as "Discounted package" for specific dates only. On our web-site these particular "deals" are clearly on a Non-Refundable basis.
Even if our policy was not contemplating a cancellation, due to inclement weather condition we agreed to accommodate a new reschedule within a time frame. Again at the last minute the customer due to problems at work cancelled, knowing the policy of this non-refundable reservation.
At no time we did act unkindly and clearly spent much time corresponding to have this situation respectfully handle from both sides. We are happy to work with all of our potential guest requests and our policies are very clear.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Savoia for four nights, and we found it to be an excellent choice. Our room was spotlessly clean, with a beautiful tile floor, comfortable bed, large bathroom (not always common in Italy), antique furnishings, and a stunning view from our 4th floor balcony. The location is ideal, high enough to provide a wonderful view of the city and the sea, but also situated just around the corner from the pedestrian avenue that leads past the many shops and art galleries to the beach. We saw many hotels much further away, which would have required much more walking up and down Positano's MANY hills and stairs. Your legs will get a workout in Positano no matter what, but there's no reason to make it harder than it has to be! The hotel's WiFi really only works in and around the first floor breakfast area and bar, and the hourly rate is rather expensive, but why would you want to waste time on the Internet while staying in Positano anyway? Paid parking is just a stone's throw away (€20/day), and the Savoia staff booked it so that the garage was expecting us and had a space reserved. Speaking of the staff, they were wonderful - friendly, helpful, English-speaking, and happy to provide excellent recommendations about restaurants and sights in the local area. When I asked about one particular restaurant we had read about, the woman at the desk called the place for us to confirm whether they had opened yet for the tourist season. While you're in Positano, be sure to get out and explore. The place is a labyrinth of little streets and stairways with many hidden shops and cafes. Also, be sure to walk the path from the main beach to Fornillo beach (ask any of the locals) to take in the amazing views.

This is the best hotel in Positano. I was very pleased with my stay. My room was very clean and the service and accommodations were impeccable. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel has a great location. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
